booking one way flight

Hi There

I am looking to book business class flight from Heathrow to JFK on BA and then return on Virgin upper. Is this possible to do without costing lots more than a return ticket with one airline? The airlines seem to charge a huge premium to book one way only.

Thanks

Really no way to do this cheaply I'm afraid.
Any Long Haul one way fare on BA (or VS for that matter) will be priced at full fare and likely to cost very close to a return flight or more.

Only way to do that really is using Avios, providing availability is there of course ...

Oh and welcome to FT and the BA board!

Expedia or a similar website may offer you a hacker fare (shown as mixed airlines) with VS/BA combined.

I have to say I haven't come across that combinations in years.

I do remember a time where one could get a cheap one way fare on VS UC booking through Continental.

Hello and welcome,

I had a similar problem myself about a month ago. I would recommend you checking the US Airways flights on ITA Matrix or Google Flights. They show up flights on BA metal for much cheaper. You will have to call US Airways to book the flight as it does not show up on the website, but they are cheaper than the BA ones. Also got the 70 tier points instead of 35 for economy.

Just don't have to make any changes or add bags, it is a nightmare.
