Cancelling a WT+ UUA

Hi... I'm sorry for this question as it seems obvious but I couldn't find a clear answer by searching and I also can't understand BA's terms and conditions.

If I do a "book and upgrade" with BA say, LHR to LAS, in WT+ UUA to business, then am I able to cancel this ticket? If so, is there a fee?

All I could understand from reading the terms and conditions was that a refund might be available, maybe for a part of the fare, with some amount of fee deducted, even that wasn't specific.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

(For clarity: the underlying fare is WT+ and I'm UUAing to business class)

It really depends on the conditions of the underlying WT+ fare, If it is cancel-able with a full refund then that's what you will get, if it is is a discounted WT+ fare bucket (e.g. T class) and is non refundable all you will get back are the avios for the UuA and the taxes and government fees. You would lose the fare component and the carrier surcharge.

Doing a UuA on a WT+ ticket doesn't change the conditions, the conditions stay the same.

Thanks, I figured as much, but the problem is I can't see what WT+ fare I'm buying, and the terms and conditions are so ambiguous. I'll try to see if I missed something.

If you are going through the book with cash and upgrade with avios bit on your BAEC page then once you get to the "Your price quote" page you shoudl be able to see the fare conditions towards the bottom, they should look like this:

Alternatively, if you just price up the same flights doing a normal cash booking for WT+ on the quote page you can see the conditions in the newer clearer format like this:

Yea I get that box.. forgive me for not understanding terms speak, but I don't see how that box says whether this specific ticket is cancellable or not, and if so, how much cash is paid back.

In the above case it clearly says non refundable.

I'm not talking about the pricing it up clear box, I mean the long terms and conditions.

That's because I can't price up the same flight on its own so I'm reduced to the terms box, which helpfully says:

"Cancellations anytime ticket is non-refundable"

Non refundable means it is not a refundable ticket...

The best thing to do, if you haven't already bought the ticket, is to price the underlying WT+ ticket without selecting UUA. Go as far as the firm price quote page, which will give you the conditions in plain text (as in the second of the images in KARFA's post). Those will remain the conditions of the underlying WT+ ticket even if you UUA. If the underlying ticket is non-refundable, then that will remain non-refundable.

When you UUA, there is a different set of conditions about whether and when you will get a refund of the Avios and extra cash used to UUA, if you later cancel the ticket. If you need to know about these, probably best to post again.

I would do that, but when I try to price it up with identical dates and route it says sorry "we don't fly that route" or similar.

Not trying to be difficult I just genuinely don't see how

""Cancellations any time ticket is non-refundable"

means

"This ticket is non-refundable"

Surely they could just write it like that?!

Sorry, quick edit:

I managed to get it priced up, but it comes to a different WT+ price, which seems strange. About 150 more expensive when doing the UUA.

It says non-refundable. I'll just assume it's that on the UUA too.

Thanks for the help.

Again, another edit! Just realised the higher price on UUA is perhaps because it's a higher class WT fare, in order for it to be able to upgrade to business class? If so, maybe it is refundable. Argh!

All WTP fares can be upgraded.

The extra cost is likely due to higher carrier surcharges for CW over WTP.

That's because that box doesn't show you the implied punctuation. It's actually supposed to look more like this:-

TICKET IS NOT TRANSFERABLE TO ANOTHER PERSON
And this is why the plain text box is much easier to read, if you can get it - which I see you have now been able to.

Assuming non-stops between LHR and LAS, the YQ surcharge in WT+ is 239.00 round-trip. The YQ surcharge in CW is 359.00 round-trip.

So you should see a difference in the cash element of an additional 120.00 when you UUA.
