Bugger! Hurricane Ignacio is born. Right now, the forecast has it arriving at the Hawaiian Islands on Monday evening.

Hopefully it won't strengthen any more and if it hits Hawaii won't cause that much damage.

That's a pity.

Maui was amazing today - temperature up to 96F (so the car told me).

HNL was shut during the day because of lightning storms......!

Thank you for reminding me.

October trip added to the Wiki.

Routing not via Dublin this time - because there were not any decent fares when I was ready to book.

" More ways of killing a cat than choking it with cream"

So I took advantage of the recent BA Germany to Hong Kong deal and approached HNL from the other direction!
Added attraction of taking in a few days in BKK at the same time!

As a small consolation for those worrying about JIMENA [or whoever] hitting Hawaii, it would seem that ERIKA will hit Florida/Georgia about the time we arrive next week

There's Ignacio and Jimena. Back-to-back by the looks of it though the latter seems stronger right now.

I believe it was Murphy's or perhaps Sod's law that summed it up best

As Bill Clinton was oft to saying: I feel your pain.

NRT-HNL always looks expensive when I look at it. Is this a revenue sector?

Hello all, after a short absense! I hope you all avoid the storms, I'm told that part of the reason flights out of NY are so chokka this weekend is people leaving the Caribbean early. Of course, we'll see the (only slightly) toned down storm a week later in London...

Currently waiting in the JFK FL, 24 hours after a confusing kerfuffle yesterday...getting out at 18:10, I'm told.

ERIKA has now expired, so you should be OK. Follow this link and hover over the Big Yellow Cross in the top image ... http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/#SIX
