Anyone got 1,000,000 Avios?
I know there is a wiki thread on how to get Avios points but was just wondering if anyone had a serious amount of Avios points i.e. 250,000+
This can't be easy to amass as we all like to spend them!
For those with big totals - what has been your secret to gaining so many, what has worked in reality for you?

I think you'll find there are plenty on here that have well over that! I'm sitting on just under 2m, having redeemed quite a bit for family holidays recently.
My secret? Fly a lot. I don't shop at Tesco or do any of the partner offers. A little top up comes from my BA Amex but I usually use a different card for most of my purchases.

If you travel a lot on business it's pretty easy, especially in First and Club. I have several friends who's company's still send then Club (and even First) and they have significant balances each year.
I pay for my own flights (self employed) so travel WT+/WT and use other methods to top up: BA Amex, Amex rewards, Tesco, bonuses, hotel, car hire etc. They pay for the annual holiday

Anyone who travels a lot of long haul for work (especially if its near the front of the plane) could have far far more than 1m. I imagine there are a few one here who rack up 6 figures most months.
I'm currently sitting on ~300K

I suspect there are hundreds of people with 1M+ balances. I've still a healthy balance from the many Tesco/O2/Foursquare etc deals from a few years ago that basically paid you to earn Avios, or where they cost fractions of a penny.

The problem that most high-balance Golds (and Silvers) have is actually finding availability in premium cabins without booking 11 months ahead, especially if you have a few children in tow. We see the same Avios seats as everyone else, and there aren't very many of those.
This is one of many reasons why I'm consolidating my travel around BA and OW and avoiding *A unless it makes absolutely no sense. With the ensuing GGL status you get revenue seats released for Avios redemption for account holder plus four, twice a year. That makes only one true Avios seat I need to worry about!

It is easy to build up large numbers if you fly a lot (I have had 4 BA flights this week so far), and if you have no practical way of spending them.
Quite frankly I have no desire to get on a plane to go "on holiday", so long haul redemptions hold no attraction.
So I have had a seven figure balance on this scheme for some time, and another ....

I'm currently sitting on ~450k mostly: I would say about 60% (well about 60k was from the BMI transfer :P) via flying and 40% via AMEX (e.g. AMEX and MR transfer)
