OT: Update on planned London Underground strike action

Here's an update for anybody planning to travel around London or to Heathrow on Monday 28th to Wednesday 30th April .

Travel advice to customers during the RMT strike action:

Should the strike action go ahead, LU will keep as many stations open and run as many trains as possible. Services will be affected from 21:00hrs on Monday 28 April so customers are asked to try and complete journeys as early as possible that evening. If your Oyster card needs topping up, it may help to do this in advance of the industrial action starting.

If strike action does take place and where we can operate services, trains will run from around 7.00am, or as soon as possible after that, and they are expected to conclude around 11.00pm, with no service beyond that. However, customers are advised that the last services from central London may depart significantly earlier than this, at around 9.30pm.

Note that the usual alternative of Heathrow Express will also be affected by strike action.

A reduced Heathrow Express service will run on Tuesday 29 April and Wednesday 30 April due to separate strike action by the RMT. Heathrow Express plans to run two trains an hour between Heathrow and Paddington and back. Check www.heathrowexpress.com for more information.

Although it is not possible to say exactly what services we will be able to run, the line-by-line information below will help customers to plan journeys in advance (in the interests of space I have removed the lists of closed stations but can add them in if helpful?)

Bakerloo
Queen’s Park and Elephant & Castle around every six minutes

Central
No service would operate through the central area.
• Epping / Hainault and Leytonstone around every ten minutes. If possible we will extend this service to Holborn.
• West Ruislip and White City around every 10 - 15 minutes. If possible we will extend this service to Ealing Broadway.

District line

• Wimbledon and Barking around every 12 minutes. If possible we will extend the service to Upminster
• Ealing Broadway and Tower Hill around every 12 minutes

Hammersmith & City line
Hammersmith and Aldgate around every ten minutes

Jubilee line
Wembley Park and Stratford around every seven minutes

Northern line
Whole line running with a train around every five minutes via both the Bank and Charing Cross branches

Piccadilly line
No service would operate through the central area.
• Acton Town and Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 around every 20 minutes
• Arnos Grove and Cockfosters around every 12 minutes

These trains would not stop at Heathrow Terminal 4, Heathrow Terminal 5, Hounslow West or Southgate stations.

NB: A reduced Heathrow Express service will run on Tuesday 29 April and Wednesday 30 April due to separate strike action by the RMT. Heathrow Express plans to run two trains an hour between Heathrow and Paddington and back. Check www.heathrowexpress.com for more information.

Victoria line
Seven Sisters and Victoria around every five minutes. If possible we will extend this service to Brixton.

Waterloo and City
No Service

Heathrow Express service will continue to run during the RMT strike on April 29 and 30.

During the strike we will run trains from Paddington to Heathrow at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour, and back from Heathrow at 12 and 42 minutes past the hour.

London Paddington to Heathrow Terminal 5
The first service to depart Paddington will be at 06:10. Services will then depart at 40 and 10 minutes past the hour with the last service to Heathrow Terminal 5 at 22:10 and to Heathrow Terminals 1 & 3 at 22:25.

Heathrow Terminal 5 to London Paddington
The first service to depart Heathrow Terminals 1 & 3 will be at 06:03 and from Heathrow Terminal 5 at 06:12. Services will then depart at 42 and 12 minutes past the hour with the last service at 22:12.

Heathrow Express services usually depart every 15 minutes. Under this amended schedule, trains will depart every 30 minutes.

With a journey time of just 15 minutes, we will continue to be the fastest way to travel between central London and Heathrow.

Our shuttle transfer service between Terminals 1 & 3 and Terminal 4 will continue to run with services departing every 30 minutes.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the RMT industrial action.
