This thread is to help BAEC members use US Airways for travelling, earning and redeeming Avios. Your comments are welcome.

One obvious resource for more information about US Airways is their main Flyertalk presence, which is to be found here:
US Airways | Dividend Miles (Pre-Merger)

The US Airways website:
http://www.usairways.com/default.aspx

The US Airways UK website - this allows you to pay in GBP, therefore avoiding currency conversion fees. Note that if you are a BA Amex PP cardholder you can also book via BAEC by telephone to get more Avios, however there may be a service fee.

BA TP Calculator is now showing US Airways and giving me some weird information, so I'm not sure if its real or not, for example:

PHL-YYZ (Economy Discounted) 20 TPs One-Way
GLA-PHL (Economy Discounted) 70 TPs One-Way

Hmmm.

I just called US British Airways to use my Avios for a US Airways flight, and was told they aren't in the Avios system yet, just for cash bookings, and that Wednesday is the tentative date for booking with Avios. Should I try calling a different number or should I try back later/tomorrow?

Very useful guide! Thanks to those who created it.
US Airways is a good addition to oneworld and another great opportunity to earn Avios and TPs in America. Unfortunately they'll have to reduce their presence at DCA, where they would be very useful to me.

The US Airways Avios and TPs have now been published and are now showing above.

Indeed odd. For starters, all their fare buckets have been allocated to full fare economy, including the cheap ones, so that's more than generous. On the other hand, the business class fares, which only apply on services from Europe to USA are showing at a miserly 70 TPs, compared to the 140 that I would expect. Possibly an error. First shows the expected TP figure of 60 TPs, and 210 TPs for journeys over 2000 miles.

Apparently the flights are in the System, even if it's buggy.
Through ba.com, I could redeem Avios on US, but only on connections.

So if I try to book AAA-BBB, it doesn't show me the flight. If I search for AAA-CCC, it actually shows me AAA-BBB-CCC (so the flight I was looking for before).

Strange.

70 TPs for one-way TATL Economy is fantastic value. I've got 3 trips lined up with US Y GLA-PHL r/t over the summer so this will help me rack up those TPs nicely.

FYI I was also able to add my BA number (OW Emerald) and select Front-Row and Exit Row (Choice) seats on all my US flights for free.

Thanks for all the info above. The direct PHL routes from EDI and GLA will be very useful.

I assume we will be able to use the BA lounges in these airports when flying US. I wonder if EDI lounge will become more crowded with addition of both QR and US business class pax over next few months.

Actually, looks like only 12 'envoy' seats on the US 757-200, so I can't imagine the place will be overrun.

That is indeed the case, the existing BA lounges will service the US Airways Scottish flights, I had never considered their role as a departure point for inter-continental travel (in a 757 too!) but it presumably added to the business case for their recent refits. Due to the departure timings (10:40 from EDI, 10:20 from GLA) I don't think the lounge will get too crowded, plus there are only 11 business class seats on a US 757 (i.e. more exclusive than BA First.....).

You'll have to use the 'SkyLounge' in GLA. It's crap compared to the BA Lounge. This is because the domestic pier and international pier are separated by a security check with the BA lounge being in the Domestic pier.

No word yet on EDI lounge arrangements but I assume as they are OW you can use it if you want.

GRR I'm trying to book SNN-PHL-STL, and I can't get SNN-PHL to come up even though I know there are seats available (I could book them thru AA but I don't have enough miles). I can get PHL-STL to come up tho.

And, I checked the non-avios listings too just to make sure, and the US flights aren't showing up there either.

Has anyone had any luck booking by calling yet?

Ahem, I blagged my way in there back in early January, when my AA connection to JFK was delayed 5hrs. Thanks to a very accommodating and lovely lounge lady, of course

I brought this very issue up some months ago. I had suggested use of the connection corridor between international departures and the back of the new BA lounge. Perhaps for lowish numbers (limited biz seats but potentially endless Silver card+ holders) could be escorted through to use BA lounge. Dont think security arrangements are any different between piers now.
