BA Credit Card in Switzerland... Looks like a thing of the past

Until now I have benifited from the BA Diners Club card here in Switzerland, which is very widely accepted... Just received a letter today to say that the licensee here in Switzerland is changing and we can only get the "Classic" Diners Club Card.

They seem to have no branded cards and all existing cards will be cancelled on 30th April... BA web site shows no alternative credit cards at the moment.
Very pi**ed off

Get AmEx gold then. You can convert the reward points to avios.

...at a generally poor rate, so be patient as there may be a bonus whereby they top up your Avios on transfer.

I asked the BAEC agent I was talking to if there were plans to go with a new card here in CH when I was doing a UUA last year. He mentioned that there were no plans.

So it looks like we're out of luck here in Helvetia.

You are not alone...

In Norway we yet have to see a credit card company that bundles with BA / Avios. Only Eurobonus (Star Alliance).

The BA Diners Card in Switzerland has not been available to new applicants for some years. Whenever I have tried the link on the DC Swiss site, I have got a message saying 'not currently available' or similar.

However, there may be a little light on the horizon. Future Diners cards in Switzerland will be issued by Corner Bank who have quite a bit of experience in airline cards, mainly Miles and Less. Who knows? Perhaps we'll see a BA DC in due course.

Thanks, Swissbobby, that saves me doing so. If Corner don't get an agreement with BA, then that's obviously two customers they will lose!

I must say when I opened the envelope the other day, I thought that it was very short notice on the part of Diner's Club Suisse since I have several hotel reservations guaranteed on my Diner's card.

You can earn Avios again with Cornercard (from December 2014/January 2015)

Hello

From December 2014 (MasterCard) / January 2015 (Diners) you can earn Avios again with 3 Swiss credit cards from Cornercard.

For more information (german):https://m.cornercard.ch/de/privatkunden/kreditkarten/
and http://www.dinersclub.ch/privatkunde...airways-karte/

If I missed an actual thread I apologise.

Greetings,

I don't think you've missed an actual thread. Thanks for the update!

Cornercard's non-mobile link is here: https://www.cornercard.ch/de/privatk...en/karten.html

The card costs seem a bit dear. Then again, CCs are pretty dang expensive here. The gold card also has travel cancellation insurance, as does the Diner's club card.

BA.com is now showing banner ads for the cards. First year no fee. Now, which card to apply for?

http://www.britishairways.com/en-ch/...s/credit-cards

And Cornèrcard has put up a website for the cards in english.^

Corner BA Classic: 1 mile per CHF 2 spend (CHF 140 p.a. fee)
Corner BA Gold: 1 mile per CHF 2 spend + travel insurance (CHF 220 p.a. fee)
Diners: 1 mile per CHF 1 spend + travel insurance (CHF 250 per year fee)

Wonder if the details online of the Corner BA Gold is not quite right?

I do wonder a bit myself. The day before it looked like they had just done a cut and paste of the Mile & Less cards. I get the feeling they're still working on the website. On Monday the terms of the card in German mentioned that you would get to keep your Avios from timing out by using the card at least once a month! This didn't appear at all in the english terms.

It would be nice if, like with LH, status members received a discount.
