I propose...

Blue = Nitrogen (invisible)
Bronze = Water (blue)
Silver = Gas (silver/white)
Gold = Oil (black)

I think the colours should be reversed and Bronze should be Gold. Silver will stay the same. Gold will be bronze.

However the CCR card should be fluorescent pink.

(Prems can stay black.)

The current names have served us well, but it would be fun to change their names to destroy the DYKWIA rants. Instead of them saying "I have Gold status" to making them say: "I have Happy status." The BA staff can respond with "Ok, it's good that you are happy!"

But knowing the mindset of executives, warrior names best fit their personas. But nowadays open aggression is to be avoided.
Hipster status that compliments the status holder with a hint of freedom and fun might endear FFs because the current status names seem unemotional and unconnected.

Premier = Genius
GGL = Grand Wizard
Gold = Wizard
Silver = Magician
Bronze = Jester
Blue = Vagabond

Then each card can still use the existing colors, have a character logo and appeal to the pseudo Harry Potter and magic trend.. Best of all, the gate agents will have to say "We will begin boarding for all our Wizards and OWEs at this time."

Marketing themes for BAEC include "we want to make your travels more magical." Just like the payday loan advertisements, kids will nag their parents for BAEC status and merchendise.

Except of course you would be holding a card named after a bag of almonds if you were a boy.

Why not name them after supermarkets?

Blue = Lidl
Bronze = Asda
Silver = Sainsbury
Gold = Waitrose
GGL = Fortnum & Mason
Premier = Private chef and a couple of farms in the Cotswolds

Don't the lounge dragons have enough issues with the colours as they are at the moment!?

Don't go causing more issues!

I maybe should have added in the first post this thread was all a bit slightly tongue in cheek as well as reading folks views and ideas, some of which are quite humorous.

I do sort of agree that the oneworld colours aren't straight forward, and not all the airlines have the same system. I get that this can be confusing for a beginner.

CX gold is BA Silver is OW ? what
Also AA gold isn't worth much at all so I'm told.

and AA platinum, which sounds like you can't get anything better, has AA executive platinum.

I like that BA has a straight forward system. Its nice that they name a tier after the Concorde.

personally not a fan of colour inflation where "silver status" suddenly is gold only to make people feel better.

Also get confused by "Premier Plus 1k minus 2/3" status which - unless ranked with all the "Premier Premium 2D Exec Platinum Diamond" statusses - doesnt tell me anything.

Keep it simple. No more inflation. If anything make it easier to understand, harder to get, and more valuable once you have it.

Colours are fine, don't confuse me, I have enough trouble with left and right!

I always think of (toungue firmly in cheek) the Olympics

Blue: Me, any other plebs and certain university rowing teams who are both blue....we are the sloggers who sit in steerage and are thankful of it. We arent allowed to enter the 'big race' that happens every four years

Bronze: Third prize or second runner up in the Olympics (not bad...it's a medal after all).

Silver: Second prize and first runner up, better than getting Bronze....but 'dammit I was that close to winning.'

Gold: First prize, but not really, the race was won but the really big winners have been and done it already.

GGL: Gets CBE or OBE for services to the 'sport'.

Prem: Marries into the 'Family'.

I've often wondered why all OW partners don't just use the same colour coding. It would certainly make things simpler.

I think the tiers should be: Red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue.
