Paying for seat allocation in Business Class?
I recently booked flights in BRitish Airways' Club World , for my wife, two children and myself. I used AAdvantage mile and Avios Points for the booking, but paid a significant amount of taxes. I tried to assign seats for our trip and it costs 90 US$ per booking to reserve seats.
Is this the norm in Business Class or is this British Airways just trying to make extra money?

alexsinanan, welcome to FlyerTalk! As this is specific to BA's policies and operations, I'll move it to the dedicated forum on that airline. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

If you have AA status then you can assign seats for free.
If you have a ticket booked in certain revenue booking classes you can assign seats for free.
BA will assist with seating if you fit one of their special categories / families etc...
If not, there is a fee if you want to assign specific seats.

There really ought to be a master thread for a number of topics, including this one, where new threads on this same topic should just be rolled into the master thread. This one, for example, comes up literally every week - deja vu again and again.

Your answer and mine are not mutually exclusive.
Let's try it another way, most airlines have free seat allocation as part of their business class fares, regardless of status.
BA nickels and dimes an extra fee for it in Club Europe and Club World for pax without status in Oneworld.
Does that satisfy you?
