MMB on BA now says that my QF Business class flights SIN-PER-SIN for Dec 14 have been cancelled...and now transferred and were automatically re- booked on the delights of Jetstar Asia in Y!! This booking was 100,000 avios for two and nearly 600 uk pounds.

Has QF announced any cancellation of the 330 flight between SIN and PER?

Obviously we dont consider this alternative to be good value but our dates are somewhat fixed.....any thoughts what is best to do? Suppose call BA once lines open again tomorrow....

Checking yes im right, 22nd july 2014 flights end on the route and are no longer operated by QF.

I would get on the phone to BA as soon as they open and try and get shifted onto SIN-SYD-PER on BA/QF in J or any combination of BA, QF, CX etc

Isn't SIN-SYD-PER an extra 8 hours?!

They are actually offering rerouting that way for paid tickets but I'd take a refund and look at alternatives. Price up Garuda J or Scoot which has a good Premium Economy / old school J.

I just picked SYD off the top of my head.

Looks like QF also fly SIN-BNE & MEL which would also no doubt offer onward connections on QF ? Perhaps one of those might be a quicker routing ?

Just simply suggesting that BA would be more willing to re-route onto BA & or OW ?

Certainly something to think about.....wife tells me that using MH via KUL is half the tax price we paid for the avios booking (total round 300 UK pounds per pax return in total -cash booking only) albeit in Y class......maybe tempted just to do that..and get our miles back into BA account..so annoyed with QF - this is not the first time they have mucked us around...I should think many regulars on SIN-PER must be somewhat cheesed off - it was never a cheap fare yet usually pretty busy when we have used it in the past - I fear QF must be near to be done in totality!

Singapore Airlines have J seats on the 14th Dec, also lots of return dates available (110,500 SIN-PER-SIN x2 J)

PER-SIN has become flooded with LCCs and the biz class seats are scarce.

Scoot biz is really PE but very reasonable cost, however it lands at 1am in SIN. flyscoot.com

Air Asia via KL has a proper biz class but the times are again awkward.

SQ biz awards to/from Australia are only released 2 weeks ahead these days.

Could ask BA to look for a Malaysian flight via KL now they are in OW, if you're up for it.

My J class PER-SIN QF77 seat via a CX award booking has also been replaced with a Y (minus) seat on Pornstar. Frankly I'd rather walk than fly JQ.

As per my post on the CX forum I tried to proactively head off a JQ rebooking - obviously with a spectacular lack of success. The Marco Polo club are following up with QF for me but I suspect that I will be forced to accept a points refund and source another option myself.

I've asked to be accommodated on CX via HKG or QF via the East Coast but that doesn't appear likely. Both CX and QF are saying that I will need to pay any points differential (the indirect routings are more than double the 30000 miles of my original booking) but my point is they need to honor my reservation in the class I booked.

Not a huge problem when compared to the hundreds of job losses pending at QF but a good self reminder as to why I stopped voluntarily flying QF several years ago.

Update: The CX rep I have been dealing with finally managed to speak with someone at QF and they have agreed to rebook me PER-KUL-SIN on MH (A333) in J at no extra mileage charge. I have accepted this as it gives me most of an extra day in PER and the transit through KUL is only an hour so the overall journey isn’t too much longer than PER-SIN direct. I am happy with the outcome.

Whatever you do, do not accept this rebooking! You can pick up PER-SIN for about £100 per person each way on JQ (Jetstar). Obviously not worth paying 100,000 Avios + £600, not to mention Y not being J and LCC Y tends to be worse than a legacy carrier Y.

I recommend having some alternatives to suggest. I would have thought that PER-KUL-SIN on MH may be a decent alternative in terms of avoiding excessive increase in travelling time.

Or, of course, you could just cancel the Avios booking and pay cash for PER-SIN JQ Y.

Did they actually rebook you, on an avios booking, onto JQ flights for the onward SIN-PER sector?

I'm quite surprised at this.

I had avios bookings for LHR-SIN-DPS (BA-QR). I only found out from the MyFlights alert that BA cancelled the whole booking, when they rescheduled BA11, resulting in insufficient time to make the QR connection.

No call from BA. No email. They just cancelled the whole booking.

When I called GGL to find out what options I had, they said I could either get a refund of avois/charges, or they could reinstate the booking to SIN only. They refused to rebook us on SQ, GA, or even JQ.

And If I made a separate cash booking on SQ/GA/JQ they refused to add any remarks requested bags to be transferred to the onward flight.

Kind of implies to me they will re-route you LHR-SIN-HKG-PER if you insist

Called BA exec club on this. Nice lady agreed no way should we accept Jetstar and looked at alternatives for us with CX and MH in J. No joy as we are quite tight on the date(s) due wedding in PER.

Solution was canx and get everything back and source alternative.

Indeed though seems awful that it can be determined that such a re-booking is considered a like for like...incredible really.

thanks for some of the suggestions...will take time and also keep eyes peeled for perhaps AVIOS use opportunity...plenty of time....
