777-300 on LHR-JFK-LHR

Hi everyone,

A newbie here although have been lurking a while.
I'm about to book this route, however trying to determine whether it will be a 777-300 or 777-200 when all I can see is '777' in the BA booking system.

Are any particular flight times on this route more/less likely to have the 777-300 than others?

I'm interested in getting the new WT+ product.

Thanks
JF

How's about Newark for the 787? One way to tell is by going throughout the booking process to where you can select seats before paying. You can then see how many rows and therefore the type. However this could change.

Oh and welcome to FT

Hello JF,

What is the flight number you are looking at? I ask this because BA 115 or 114 is usually the 777-300 but it changes

Hope that helps

Start a dummy booking for CW. When you get to the option for seeing the seat map, look at it. If CW is rows 10-16, then it's a 77W (ie a 777-300ER, which is different from a 777-300 even though BA doesn't have any of the latter).

Thanks all - I will go through the dummy booking process. I'm assuming the 777-200ER hasn't been fitted out yet on this route with the new product? I couldn't find a recent thread tracking it for JFK.

Welcome to flyertalk,
Nice to have you onboard.

Some of the 772 fleet have been refitted with the new product.

A thread exists to track these aircraft titled something along the lines of tracking new wt+, sorry but I can't post a link from my device.

Found it - thanks.

A combo of the 'tracking WT+ thread' and 'The BA source' suggest that *most* of the 777-200ERs have been upgraded (2010) - at least the BA113 and BA174 I was planning on booking.

Final question - any idea if this upgraded 777-200ER WT+ cabin is the same as on the 777-300ER?

Same seat and ife but one extra row on the -300

I would not risk a 200 -if your reason for going is to try the new product, then go to EWR on the 787

I looked into that, but on the 19/03 both flights from LHR to EWR are showing as being a '777'.

I thought JFK was pretty much always 744/773 and EWR 772/788?

As to JFK, far from it - most of the time if it's 77x it's a 772, but it's very likely to be a 14F 772. As I read BASource, that means you have a 15:2 or 88% chance of new WT+ (assuming the flight is operated with an LHR-based aircraft). But you might end up with a 12F 772, in which case new WT+ is a 0% chance.

I don't think BA have anything like enough 77W to handle all the 777 JFK routes.

On a side note, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see a top up order for the 77W at some stage soon.

Seems from the suggestions here and on other sites that BA are happy with the 787, 77W & A380.

We flew on the 777-300 to JFK a couple of weeks ago on BA177 - it seems to operate on and off every now and then although I know for the summer season it is going 744 so depends when you're travelling. We flew in Y (I know!) and it was a pretty good flight, especially compared to the 787 back from EWR.

Although I've heard Y+ on the 787 is very good....

What was wrong with Y on the 787?
