GUF2/Joker Rules
Does anyone know if it is possible to use a GUF2 and Joker on an Avios booking in a circumstance where my booking would be one way, and my traveling companion would fly alone on the return?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Only if the GUF owner booked a return but didn't actually fly back. In that scenario you would throw away the return, I think, since if you subsequently split the booking the companion's ticket would look ripe for further ticketing/recalculation. It's the GUF2 rather than the Joker which would be the issue post booking. You can't book a single for you and a return for the companion, since you need to make the initial booking on one PNR, and so everything needs to be identical in terms of routing and dates.

Yes and no - bear in mind that the GUF2s are offered with the knowledge that its relative inflexibility means that x% of the benefits distributed are effectively not used. If you make the GUF2 more flexible so that 100% of the benefits distributed are used, then at one point or another BA will start becoming meaner when it comes to deciding when to distribute them...

I think we have had this exchange on another thread recently haven't we! Appreciate it changes the business model for this benefit, but it would still be nice to have it. For example it could be introduced as a higher TP level benefit, so we get normal GUF2s at 2,500 TPs and 3,500 TPs. Perhaps BA might consider introducing a 2 x GUF1 at 4,500 TPs?
BA's offerings are extremely generous already in terms of tier points benefits compared to other programmes to which I belong.
Besides, if you are flying enough, it is likely that uou have Avios coming out of your ears...

I know why you ask, in relation to the Two for One Amex vouchers. But no, you can upgrade any trip (provided it has at least 2 classes!), even a single for a single person, just needs to be a BA code on BA metal.

You can also use the GUFT (unlike the 241) on franchise routes, eg Comair flights in SA.

How would pricing work on this itinerary then....
AMS-LHR-CPT (J/F) using a GUF2
Would you be charged Y class miles for the connecting AMS-LHR flight or J miles
79,500 or 84,000?

When I did book the following routing ZRH-LHR-CPT (J/F) some months ago using a GGL-Joker as well as a GUF2, all sectors were calculated separately and for the European sectors the Y miles were charged. Was pleasantly surprised about this. ^
