CW service on a 2 class aircraft

Although a Brit ex-pat I nailed my colours to the AA mast about 10 years ago when I had a lot of TATL travel.

One thing I found on AA was that the service in business class on a 2-class 763 was usually better than on a 3-class 777. There was always a feeling that being the "upper" of the two classes beat being trumped by the F cabin on the 777.

I'm booked in CW on the new LHR-AUS service which will be my first TATL BA flight not in F. I reckoned that landing in my home town as opposed to Dallas or Houston was worth foregoing the JW Blue. It will be interesting to see if the same perception of better service applies on a 2-class BA flight.

Anyone have an experiences or thoughts about this?

Isn't AUS a 3 class service?

On the A321 2 class, service it is just very typical CW as is flying CW on the 3 class 777.

Correct, the only aircraft that is 2 class with CW is the A321.

On BA, 4-class means F, CW, WT+ and WT and 3-class means CW, WT+ and WT. 2-class means CW/CE and WT/ET.

g1ant, we're being nitpickers here but BA doesn't have 2-class TATL flights, there's always at least Economy, Premium Economy and Business!

Ha!!!! nitpickers indeed And I thought the AA forum was a tough crowd!
Us plebs over at AA don't have an equivalent on WT+

For AA 2 and 3 class, substitute BA 3 class and 4 class.

Same question applies. Is the service perceived to be better when CW is the highest class on board?

To be absolutely honest, no.
Other than First normally disembarking ahead of the other cabins there will be no difference to the service on a four class aircraft.

Oh dear. I'm sure that's not the basis BA sells its F cabin on? But has been true of many flights (both positively and negatively).

The OP may have a point though which is entirely subjective but I've often wondered about. It's certainly been true that I've sometimes experienced better service on 3-class BA and 2-class QR long hauls.

Whether this is just perception on my part, or the usual lottery of good vs. indifferent vs. poor crews will just have to be left to the imagination.

CIHY is talking about service differentials between CW 4-class and CW 3-class, not about the differences between F and CW.

Probably a bit of both.
The product on board is the exactly the same and as crew it wouldn't make any difference to the service we offer.
We would still do out best to give customers a great journey.

Apologies to CIHY then. Just the way I read it. Otherwise my earlier comments stand.

It's not compulsory. Just try to dodge the lounge devils waiting once you're through security.
