Tesco and Avios
Tesco, the major UK supermarket chain, allows you to convert Tesco Clubcard (CC) points to Avios. The standard earning rate is 1 CC point per 1 spent in store. They convert to Avios in the ratio of 1 CC point to 2.4 Avios or 2.5 Virgin miles. Every quarter, your points are converted to coupons and mailed to you - they can then be converted via the CC website to Avios or Virgin miles. Typically, it takes 1-2 working days for a conversion to BA Avios to complete.

The key to rapidly earning large amounts of Avios is the regular bonus point offers where large amounts of points can be earned. The latest are listed below and discussed within this thread.

The last period for collecting Clubcard points finished on 16 October 2014.

The last day for collecting points in the current quarter is 21 January 2015
.

Topcashback (TCB)
A cashback generating site, that provides cashback if you go to a wide range of online retailers via their links. Uniquely amongst such sites, TCB allows up to 50 of cashback per year to be withdrawn to your Tesco Clubcard account, which could then be transferred to 12,000 Avios. As of the middle of May, most cashback can also be transferred directly to your Avios account 1p=1 Avios. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

Wouldn't that mean also keeping your BA address registered there as well?
Nope, I have my clubcard registered to a PO box in N.I and my BA account registered to my actual home address in ROI, never had any issues to date

Been trying to convert my vouchers into Avios for the last few days and it keeps saying these vouchers have already been used.

Called them up a few times and they can see them still in my account and have to release them back to the account rather than being in a failed transaction...still not working though.

At least they are still there...I hope!

yokozuma: Had a similar problem. I have always cashed in the whole families vouchers via one single account that still qualifies for the 800 Avios per 2.50.

Message comes up that they have already been cashed! On checking with Tesco they said it was never possible to use vouchers from one account and cash them in another - even if they have the same address, surname and postcode. Vouchers were put into some sort of suspense account and when I raised it they were re-instated to the original account. Looks like all the families vouchers (bar one) will only qualify for the lower rate.

Could of course just be a bug they are not admitting to?

Whereabouts is the 800 for 2.50? Can't see it on the site so not sure if it's still available.

I had the same problem yesterday with vouchers from one account through another (in my husbands name), but then some that I had done earlier in the day (in my name) went through fine. Both were not going through the account that they should have been

Hi,

My wife and I both have clubcards and we will want to convert to avios at some point in the future. Anyone know if she will be able to redeem to my avios account or if she will need her own?

Thanks

They match the name and address on the clubcard account to the avios account - I set up another user on my wife's clubcard account and transferred the points to my avios account.

Email quote from Tesco confirming 15th as cut off date for voucher delivery:

I can confirm that at the time of you sending your email, we are still sending Clubcard vouchers out to our customers. Clubcard vouchers are being delivered between January 31st and February 15th. Hopefully you'll receive your vouchers shortly, but if you don't receive your vouchers by February 15th, please let me know and I'll arrange for them to be reissued for you.

A little off-topic, but can anyone suggest a Tesco store near Victoria Station in London (or easily reached by tube from there) that has a decent selection of gift cards?

I have 24 hours or so off my little island so thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to get some Clubcard points.

I need to get Next and B&Q cards particularly, but am always partial to a 3V card or two as well!

Thanks!

Chris

That search seems to bring up pretty much every store. Being based near Victoria I know there are a couple of stores they suggest, such as Victoria Metro, that have at best a few iTunes cards. What I have done in the past is go to the Clapham Superstore (which is just opposite Clapham South tube station). It's less than 15 minutes by tube from Victoria, and has always had a decent selection of cards including (when they were the in-thing) 3V cards and "turkey vouchers"

Thanks, but it doesn't tell me what the selection is like and with very limited time in the UK I don't want to go on a wild goose chase.

Having a serious Tesco CC OCD??? Only 24h to spend here and you spend that in a Tesco. Odd priorities, but note that it may take a couple of hours (some report days) before gift cards are activated.
