Summary guide to bookings which can be upgraded with Avios:
  • BA issued tickets (can include other carriers) ^
  • TA issued (on BA stock) booking with only BA flights ^
  • TA issued (on BA stock) booking with other carriers
  • Tickets issued on non-BA stock
TA has to issue the ticket in the country of your BAEC membership as well.

Notes
  • The ITA Matrix tool cannot be used to book tickets.
  • Some TP runs can be booked online at aa.com. Be sure to use the Sort by schedule option in order to locate the exact flights you found on the ITA Matrix tool.
  • A guide to using the ITA Matrix tool can be found here.

Unfortunately, ITA doesn't let you specify an inbound city and outbound city unless you use the Multi-City search which is restrictive with dates. Instead you can use LON as the city code that includes LHR and LCY and then specify the flight number to force the outbound to go via LCY. For LCY-JFK the flight numbers are:
BA1,BA3,IB4601,IB4685,AA6229,AA6231,AY5401,AY5403, US7408,US7409
and for JFK-LCY they are:
BA2,BA4,IB4600,IB4684,AA6228,AA6230,AY5402,AY5404, US7410,US7411

So, for ARN-HEL-LHR//LCY-JFK-PHX-HNL-PHX-JFK-LCY//LHR-HEL-ARN, you could use in ITA:
From: ARN:: HEL LON BA1,BA3,IB4601,IB4685,AA6229,AA6231,AY5401,AY5403, US7408,US7409 JFK PHX/alliance oneworld
To: HNL:: PHX JFK BA2,BA4,IB4600,IB4684,AA6228,AA6230,AY5402,AY5404, US7410,US7411 LON HEL

However, I don't usually start a search with something so prescriptive. I prefer to find the fare I want first, then start adding in the routing, bit by bit and restricting it to the fare basis. So perhaps I'd find the lowest fare on oneworld for ARN-HNL, and the fare basis is I7SALE for example, then I'd maybe do:
ARN::LON BA1-4 JFK/alliance oneworld;f ..I7SALE
and work from there.

Alexanderw,

lot of TP's, I think it can be done, it is not easy without the Babybus.

will look at it today or otherwise tomorrow.

For when you have this planned?

I'm toying with the idea of going to Denver to see family / go skiing for the weekend, combined with earning 500 TPs, it would be the first weekend in December (out on the 5th, back on the 8th) just before my membership expires. Assume my flights back on the 8th would be in the membership year, and hope I could get a one day extension to the 9th for the flights back in Europe, though that is a risk as I still have the 800 TP euro threshold for the last time.
These dates are not in the range of the ex-CPH sale, but I can still get a reasonable price ex-AMS for c.€2150. AMS-LHR-DFW-DEN. Sadly I don't think I can use the LCY-JFK and connect on to Denver, but if I pay for the positioning flight then I would get to 500 TPs if the internal AA flight posts as 60. The problem is that the flights are pricing up at a crazy price on AA. I thought the price should be the same. If I book on BA then I'll only get 40 for those flights.
Any advice with this idea? I'm still not convinced it's worth the effort, but I'd like to find out the possibilities.

Ask for a quote by telephone to BA.

Need between 340-400
Based in YYZ
Can easily get to east coast USA
Looks like getting from YYZ to "anywhere" is not god value for money interms of TP collection
Best value seems to be F in 2 class plane USA to USA cities as YYZ only gives business class points and F provides 210......
But basically Looking for 340-400 for as cheap as possible.
Many thanks in advance. Seems like time of year can make big $$ differences
I had a similar requirement for points early last year when work shipped me over to NY. I did JFK-SEA-JFK in F and it didn't cost too much, overnighted at the Doubletree

Yes, so long as they book you into the AA code for the flight rather than the BA code.

Check ex-DUB fares - have been toying with a trip around that time and departing from DUB, returning to BRU seems to yield best pricing (ETA - on ITA ex-DUB, return to AMS shows as €2,009)

If you get your 440 TPs by 8th (40+140+60+60+140) you could get the additional 60 TPs by paying for positioning flight and doing a "hello weekend" day trip beforehand - just need one POUG to get 60 TPs that way. I'd probably view €80 plus POUG as decent insurance (and am contemplating something like this myself to guarantee my two GUF1s - as risk I'll be 80 TPs short as it stands)

For Feb 2015, I'm seeing £839.60 BOM-KUL-TPE-KUL-BOM on Malaysia Airlines J class. books into Z class for each segment. 0 night stay requirement, so pure TP run possible, assuming you can clear security and (if necessary, Immigrations) quickly enough.

By my calculations that's 560TP, so £1.50/TP.

Wondering if anyone can help on this.

Am scheduled to go from LON to ORD for work on Sun 19 Oct, returning on Thurs 23 Oct. On the Sunday, I'm able to be a little bit more flexible in terms of time and cost: any suggestions on a creative, doable and not overly stressful way of getting more than the standard 140 TPs from LON-ORD?
