So there we have it- the final outcome was a chartered 'Aeronexus Corporate' 767: http://www.flightradar24.com/ARN93A/377a472 currently flying the team to Miami. Same plane as used by the rolling stones.
Wonder if the seating would be as comfortable as BA CW?

Did England fly BA to Miami yesterday?
Just curious as a photo on the cover of tonight's Standard looked like they were in front of a BA plane.
Would they have chartered a jet for the whole touring party or flown commercial?

BA said no - too expensive. Quite right.

Guess they could have found a 767 in the dessert and flown them on that (which is the same type as what they were flown to MIA on).

I'm fairly certain their flight departed from LTN.
I was living in NAS in 1970 when the World Cup-holding England team stopped over there (I guess for a refuelling stop) on their way to Mexico. We went to the airport to see the players - but they remained on the aircraft.

This thread- which was resurrected yesterday (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...no-way-fa.html) gives a lot more details.
Unlike in previous major tournaments, a 767-200 was chartered from Aeronexus Corporate, a South African registered company. The actual 762 used was previously with both BY and Silverjet.
Route flown was LTN-FLL.

"I've bought 40 I class returns to Rio and now we all need to get home early. We're a mix of Gold, Silver and Nandos card holders. Do you think BA will bend the rules?"
