Do BA tend to sell off such planes, or do they go to the great hangar in the sky? Do regulations prohibit the selling of such well used airframes to other commercial operators (like Cayman Airways who have a history of buying old jets, upgrading from the 737-200 with the tiny engines to the -300 variant only a few short years ago).

The B seat should be exactly the same as the E seat. Obviously any middle seat is going to feel less comfortable than either an aisle or a window, unless both of the adjacent seats are empty.

The B and the E sets are definitely different on convertible planes.
