2 day flights eastbound, including one that gives a fair few connections.

Shame there's no night flights westbound. Leave at 2AM, arrive 5AM ^

There's a night curfew at LHR, so that's out of the question.

Instead, it would be good if BA added a flight that leaves LHR at 2100 becomes BA 180 the following morning. And instead, turns BA181 around immediately with a late night departure from JFK around 2340.

I can see your logic and agree with you there.

They could also do worse than putting a 6:30 departure LHR-JFK departure in.

I guess that needs some spare capacity, but they could always re-use whichever aircraft is doing BA26, so it could fly HKG-LHR-JFK.

People could get a generous half day in the office in NYC with that flight.

It could also make a day-return almost feasible.

Good to see AA will only run its 77W, I tried it out this summer and the experience was superb. I think I'll take BA 175 and then AA 104 the way back. My choice is determined by lounge access: as I am not 21 years old yet I couldn't access galleries lounge at JFK because of the open bar, while in the UK I would have breakfast (hoping BA improves its food) before heading to NYC.

It is however in my opinion disappointing that neither BA or AA have added an LGW service to this comprehensive offering.

I don't think BA could make their LGW-JFK service pay.

However, your wish may come true (OK, not BA/AA):

Ah yes iv seen that.

Can't say that I think it will work for them but hell good luck to them

Wasn't the LGW-JFK a slot sitter at JFK for the LCY service and before the BA/AA JV ?

Still think with the new cost base for BA at LGW and the JV that this route is prime to try again.

No chance any time soon, as BA26 will soon be the A380.

Air Canada used to run flights LHR-YYZ on that schedule but stopped. Not sure why as I thought it was always rammed at the pointy end (yet empty down the back).

I wish there were some of the newer BA aircraft on this route, apart from the infrequent 77W, there seems to be a lot of the more elderly aircraft flying this route....

Never yet seen a Low Cost Carrier successful operate a transatlantic route (remember Laker, Maxjet or EOS) or a Far East route. Fingers crossed for Norwegian.

BA's market is for US passengers with connections to europe and beyond not just UK customers. Most european connections are at LHR not LGW.

New York JFK – London Heathrow Time changes for Summer 2014

It's a shame they didn't stick with the existing AA flight time of 09:40. I'm a big fan of the day flight but 07:15 is just a tad early. I do understand that they've chosen the earlier flight to maximise connections but being selfish as a point to point traveller, I'd have preferred it a bit later.
