Grrrrrr..... E170s
Short version: My back hurts. Very badly. I blame it on BA. I deserve a trillion Avios in compensation. At the very least.
Boarded one of those dreaded E170s today. The design of these birds is appalling. The backrest is so short it barely reaches my head. There is nothing to rest the head against. On the E190s at least there is the option to slide down in the seat a bit, hence resting the head against the seat. On the E170s there is no space to slide, the seat pitch is like that of an Uzbek budget carrier. I don't know about Uzbek carriers, I probably do them grave injustice. I digress. So I rested my head against the fuselage and fell asleep. As the flight got into LCY I woke up with a stiff neck and back pain. Worst thing is, this is not the first time, and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last time.
These awful beasts are fit only to be used as a donation to FR. And no, the RJ100s or whatever BA used in the olden days doesn't make this design weakness any better....

I must have only been on the E190's as I've rarely used the LCY flights. Is it common to have EDI operated by a E190? If not then I've either been very lucky or the E170 isn't really that bad (for me).

Easy to tell apart, the E190 has an overwing emergency exit and 25 rows, the E170 has no emergency exit overwing and 19 rows. And the 19 rows should probably be more like 15.

What day of the week was it? You should avoid traveling on that day.
Or sleeping in a chair leaning against a wall.
Find both 70 and 90 perfectly fine to fly in (clearly 2D wins on the 90).

I am 6'1'' and yes there is slightly less room in the 170 but not enough to cause me such pain on such a short flight
at over 6' one is never going to have a great amount of legroom on any domestic/economy flight whether its a E170/190 or an airbus 319/320
the benefit of the E170/190 is no middle seat pax
