Membership year or card expiry - luggage allowance

Say you're soft-landing from Gold to Silver or from Silver to Bronze, at what point does your luggage allowance change?

When the BA website talks about luggage allowances, it mentions 'cardholder' a lot, which maybe suggests that if you've got a valid card, you get the luggage allowance of that card's status, even if your current membership year has seen you drop to the next level down. But I'm thinking the agent will probably base it upon what your boarding pass says.

Anyone know what the official line is?

____

Example:
Nov 8: drop from Gold to Silver
Dec 31: Gold card expires
Q: what baggage allowance do you receive between Nov 8 and Dec 31, gold or silver?
