DFW-COU on AA (Not Recognizing COU arrival airport)
 

I'm trying to redeem Avios on American Airlines for a r/t from DFW-COU (Columbia MO Regional) August 28-September 1.

This is the first time I've attempted to book using Avios and while I've read up on it quite a bit, I stumbled across something I was hoping the FT community could help explain.

On American Airlines, I see Economy MileSAAver for both flights. However, the issue is with British Airways' site. If I try to redeem miles from COU-DFW, I see some availability. But if I search for availability from DFW-COU, the site returns an error stating they don't recognize that airport. Basically, COU is recognized as a valid airport only as a departure (not arrival).

I know I can call in to book and likely get the booking fee waived, but I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this issue before?

you have the right idea to call in, but to answer your question this sort of thing happens quite regularly with Australian airports as well as in your case some of the smaller NA airports served by AA.

Thank you for the explanation. That clears it up. It's a bit of a pain to have to call in every time (as I now plan on making several redemptions using Avios) but at least I can search availability on AA.
