Amex Foreign Exchange at LHR T5

Just gone to order some currency to collect from T5, and noticed the following message:

"From 13 August, collection from Terminal 5 will no longer be available, but your order can be delivered by Royal Mail Special Delivery to your home address."

Anybody know any reason why Amex are pulling out of T5, even though they're BA's financial partner?

Good question. They have the same message if you try to order on their website. Other outlets at LHR appear to be unaffected.

It's not up to BA who operates the outlets in T5 - it's up to HAL.

Just went to pre-book some currency and have the same problem.

Amex have only just moved into T5, certainly only recently taken over the old Travelex facility at the lounge entrance.

I was wondering why I couldn't select my usual collection point when I ordered with Travelex yesterday. Now I know.

Amex Foreign Exchange at LHR T5

Moneycorp have been awarded the tender for the next 5 years. I believe their contract starts from August 17 in T5. The same thing happened at LGW on April 1 when Moneycorp was awarded the sole operator contract and displaced Travelex.

So you can't collect currency from BA's currency partner at BA's terminal. Somebody make a petty bad partnership decision there.

Does this mean the Amex booth next to Elemis in T5S will be closing / changing hands?

Yes. Website indicates you can't collect from there after 13 Aug
