Only the supply supply side of the operation has been addressed here. No word on demand. Has anyone got access to UK-Indonesia MIDT traffic data ?

For US passengers would travelling to Jakarta via London be going the wrong way round the world?

In Indonesian and in Malay, it is not pronounced "bung-ga" but "bu-nga" where most westerners strugle with the "nga" sound.
Bunga, pronounced "bu-nga" means flower

Repeating the word indicates the prural form of the word so "flowers"

This is very interesting to hear, not least as I am currently planning a Family Reunion out in Central Java (where my dutch grandfather grew up and experienced the Japanese occupation during WW2) early next year.

Couple of questions:

(i) When, typically, do winter schedule flights get announced by BA and available for sale?

(ii) What likelihood that the LHR-CGK (via SIN) flight will have its own reward availability over and above LHR-SIN? for instance, are there any evidence that LGW-CMB has different award availability to LGW-MLE?

Not much of a difference between JFK-NRT-CGK and JFK-LHR-CGK. 10634 mi vs. 10735 mi. Different story if you don't start from the east coast.

I'm sorry, but this thread title has been on the front page and the ellipses are so inviting I simply must interject:

My wife's gone to Indonesia.

Oh really, Jakarta?

No, she went by air!

I am reliably informed that bunga bunga has a different meaning in Indonesia.
If you need to escape Jakarta, nearby Bandung has cleaner air and decent clothes markets.

Not sure about this cafe though

KUL

Shame still no word about KUL...

oh well - will have to take the plunge and book our next 12 tickets on MAS.. as prices remain high and flightstats puts some fare classes are starting to sell out in Business Class for the dates we need...

come on BA - would have much prefered to spend the cash on Club World!!

BA's network feed from across the Atlantic is important on some routes, less so on others.

Mining, gas, oil, finance all increasingly important sectors in Indonesia and also relative strengths in the UK economy. Adds in all the support traffic to those industries (legal, consultancy, support services) and dust with a growing consumer goods and retail sector.

SO, I have a question:

My group and I have a concert in Jakarta in November, and have requested to fly BA. Currently we'll be booked into Club World via HKG. If BA introduces a direct service on our dates (14th-18th Nov), is it likely BA would offer to transfer us onto the direct flight, or would it be our bad luck for booking too soon? It's never happened to me before.

Thanks!

You'd want to stay in CW via Hong Kong anyway -- you'll get 280 tier points each way (HKG-CGK in CX Business), rather than just 160

BA won't transfer you. If your ticket rules allow you can change but otherwise you'll be staying with the HKG routing.

Indeed they won't change you. Even when they add an extra flight to the same destination, they won't change you onto it.
