Gatwick Twilight Check In Yes or No
Have a flight at 8am from LGW and staying overnight at the airport at the Premier Inn adjoining the North Terminal.
It would be no hardship to get up at 6am, head down and check in for the flight before pootling off to the lounge but I was wondering if using the twilight check in the night before on arrival at Gatwick was worth it.
I have visions of my luggage being left in the storage area and not making it onto the flight by checking in the night before.
Any thoughts or experiences ?

We've used twilight check-in a few times, our luggage has always arrived at our destination and it's lovely having that extra bit of time in the morning for an excellent full English
Edited to add, when we used it last September, there was an upgrade offer to F for either Ł399 or Ł499 (think it was Ł399) which we took as the holiday was for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had overnight to enjoy thinking about how good our flight would be and in fact, we were the only 2 pax in F

The fact that the one time I used this service the check in staff appeared not to understand what they were doing puts me off using this service.

A very big "NO"
My mother's bag was broken open and rummaged after her Emirates flight went tech and they over-nighted.
I have previously posted about this and been told it is rare.
However, today's news:

It is never worth leaving it IMHO.

Given that you'd want your toiletries and a change of clothes in the morning I've never seen the point of this. Plus premium check in at LGW takes no more than a couple of minutes it doesn't seem a great benefit?

I think the idea of check in the previous day is a good one if you are taking a car to the North Terminal checking in and staying by the South Terminal (The Hilton is generally my hotel of choice).
The benefit of avoiding schlepping luggage between terminals is minor though in contrast to the potential inconvenience if things go wrong.

Old thread I know, but if I was to bag-drop bags the night before, can I bag-drop another bag the following day if needed, or has it got to be all at once? Think Orlando, May half-term, group of 7, taking all those cases to the hotel etc..

As long as you've not already used your allocation of checked bags, you can check more in the next morning.

Normally you can check in cases separately depending on when people in the group arrive. I don't see why it would be any different checking in one bag the evening before, and another in the morning.

In fact your luggage is more likely to arrive as it will already in the bins whilst everybody else is still checking in. We had a stopover at LGW 23-24th Dec 2013 when all the electricity failed due to flooding and there were very few flights on the 24th and total chaos. We were on the only flight to EDI that left that day, eventually. We got on the plane to be told only 6 bags were loaded for the whole plane. We got to EDI and our 3 bags were there. (Still cant win the lottery though)
So getting them into the system early works

So as a thread resurrection is this still available? Have an 8:30 flight next Saturday & are staying in the Bloc hotel at the terminal the night before. So would make life nice & easy if could check the bags in night before.
