What's going on with pricing?

Looking at flights to DFW and PHX for early July. The BA direct ones are showing First as being cheaper (about £600) than CW for the return leg. Is there something strange going on with revenue management, or is it just the lower class Business fares have sold out, whereas those for First haven't?

Example 1:
If fares are such that R < A < D, R class is closed but A is open, than First can be cheaper than Club World.

Example 2:
If fares are such that R < D < A < C, R class is closed but D is open, Club World will be cheaper than First.

Example 3:
It should never be the case that F < J so at the fully flexible level First will always be more expensive than Club World.

First fare buckets are F and A
Business fare buckets are J, C, D, R, I

Each are listed in relatively decreasing order of cost.

If there is no availability for example in C, D, R, I, such that only J fares are available, then First (A) fares may show as being cheaper than Business.

The J fare however will be fully flexible, and A most likely very restricted.

A fellow FT-er has just booked LGW-JER in CE for £9 less than ET ;)

Do you ever travel anywhere besides JER? :D:D

OP- if you give us the dates of travel someone will be happy to look up availability and see what might be going on.

I've often CE cheaper than ET (I never travel ET anyway) on flights ex BRU and LUX. If your dates are set, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Just buy it.

It used to be the case that ex-UK A fares were non-changeable and non-refundable. But these days A fares can be changed for GBP 200 and cancelled for GBP 200. Why anybody would buy the F fare if A is available is beyond me.

As we live here, it's more a case of 'from' JER :D

And that booking is someone else coming here, because it's a nice place! ;)

Wish I could! Awaiting confirmation of meeting dates & location - by the times these happen, chances are the F will have returned to its natural resting place of being higher than CW!
