Your Departure email, for XX October !!!

Just got an email from BA about 'Preparing for your trip' which I am taking in October.

It covers a few of the usual things, but starts with a big plug on about my baggage allowance.

Now I am used to getting these emails, generally a short time before the flight. But four months.

Is this a glitch or a new thing? I cannot see the point, I will just treat it as junk. Not really a good way to promote the brand.

Yeah I got two last week for flights quite some time away. Perhaps one of BA's mail servers is planning a long summer break and is getting everything sent out in advance

Had mine last month for a flight in Sep. I accept that some very infrequent flyers might find it useful, but it seems daft to send it to people with BAEC status who, I believe, know that the seat rows number from the front and that sort if thing

I got one three months in advance.

I don't see any harm in them especially if like me you are apt to forget how quick time flies. They're obviously after more money off you but also there are a couple of things that you might need to be reminded of like completing API and the need to take out travel insurance book car hire etc.

It's nothing new - I've had those emails several months in advance for the last few years now.

I just wish they'd tell me where I was going too.

Getting an "Your upcoming MAN-LHR flight" every week isn't very fun, I want to be reminded of the exotic country I'm off to next.

I have been having them for years too. But rarely more than 2-3 weeks in advance.

I just think it is a bit funny that based on the feedback so far (albeit a limited sample) it seems that very few of us were getting them several months in advance like you. So.... still...

Just got one for my Berlin trip in January!

Maybe they are always for sometime in the far future, and I just assume they're for my next trip and then delete them.

I wonder if BA know which airport you'll arrive at!

I got one two weeks ago for November, I must admit when I saw 'Your Departure XXXXXX 28th November' I didn't want to open it as I had one a couple of months ago cancelling my original flight, so thought it might be yet another change....

Phew - it was only to tell me what I didn't need telling, surely they should remind passengers a little later ???

Yeah, I've been getting them about 3 months in advance for the last couple of years. Seems completely pointless so far in advance.
