I bought the POUG within the last 24 hours but the initial booking was made weeks ago. Guessing the 24 cancellation period won't have reset, or apply only to the POUG would it?
The cooling off period relates to the original booking date, not the POUG date. A POUG itself does not have any cooling off period.

Also, LAX-PHX only earns 40 anyway.

Or does the fact that it's been POUGed completely scupper that possibility?

My guess is that POUG would scupper it, but I'm wondering about the people's actual experience, as BA.com does not have any reference to this kind of situation where the booking had already been 'tampered with', so to speak.
If within the first 24 hours from booking you pay to make changes including upgrades or POU you can now cancel under the 24 hour cooling off period and get a full refund including the cost of any changes.

How do you upgrade from First??? Pilotís jump seat?

Or is this for the other half? :-)

Should be possible. I have done it before, but think it is very much up to the GGL agent and the how much effort they want to put in... However, they are usually pretty helpful!
