I'm really confused by this thread!
I have one simple question which I'm hoping someone can answer:
If I click on https://www.travelmoneynow.com/britishairways/uk/ and order £1000 of US$ with my BA Premium Plus Amex will I get charged a cash advance fee?
I see some people seem to say that no you don;t / yes you do, therefore if someone can confirm (definitive yes / no) the position to me I'd be very grateful.
Thanks

One person who asked an Amex rep who said it would, but they just read off a crib sheet. Never believe a phone rep.
It works fine, did £500-worth 10 days ago and went through as a purchase.

Despite Ts&Cs saying Avios will take 40 days got the base points after 2 weeks for both BA and Avios transactions. No sign of bonus points yet, so assuming another 4 weeks for them

Why do you think it should have posted yet? The T&Cs state Avios after 40 days and bonus after 70 days.
Avios points earned on a transaction will be processed 40 calendar days after the order has been paid for and collected and will then be awarded to the customer’s Avios account.
The 1,000 bonus Avios will be awarded in a separate transaction to the standard Avios points and will show in the members account within 30 days of the standard Avios award.

...and just to point out the rate offered really isn't that great.
Right now the BA/Avios-earning site is offering 1.1312 so £310 gets you €350.67
According to MSE, ICE LHR will give you 1.160 if you pre-book so £310 gets you €359.60
Worth it with the bonus? Maybe. Without the bonus? I doubt it!

However, you will get 310 Avios from ACE plus (on a BA Amex) 465 Avios, total 775 Avios.
That is 1p per Avios, which some people are happy to pay.

Q: Does using an Amex Plat affect the (highlighted) Avios earning?
