Considering going LUX-LHR-LCY-JFK-SFO

4 hours should be plenty of time to get from LHR to LCY. However what if the LUX-LHR leg is late and I miss the LCY connection? Will BA rebook me or is it game over at that point?

They will rebook you as it's one ticket.

The "game over scenario" is if you miss a flight on a separate booking e.g. Your positioning flight to LUX.

TBH 4 hours should be more than enough. I'd be keen to do LCY-JFK on the way out and get a proper CW flat bed to LHR on the return.

my apologies the 320 /319 was domestic BRU-LHR ( rookie error) but I still cant seem to find the A380 LAX TO LHR , is it perhaps the way I am searching on AA ?
is it better to do this via a BA agent ?

thank you , I am fairly flexible with the dates as only requirement is to be in SFO for a weekend
BRU-SFO 11/12 sept
SFO-LAX 16 sept
LAX -BRU 19/20 sept

I would also like some advise about getting off at LHR and not completing the final leg to BRU , would this be an problem with AA?

You can't fly on the A380 from LAX because it won't have started on that route yet... It's first flight from LHR to LAX is on Sep 24.

However, my recommendation to you (others may disagree) is to search on aa.com like this:

BRU to LHR on Sep 11 (All day)
LCY to SFO on Sep 11 (All day)
SFO to LAX on Sep 16 (All day)
LAX to BRU on Sep 19 (All day)

-Business class with restrictions
-All carriers

I get £1847 for this, and it'll earn 690TPs. You'll get to try the CWLCY product as well.

Watch out on the JFK-SFO sector. I think there's only 1 2 class flight per day, in the morning. The rest are 3 class, so you'll book into business and get reduced TPs. You could also split the return via MIA for an additional 210 TPs...

Correct. Anything over 24 hrs is considered a stopover and will increase the price.

Seems like a good deal (same dates and cities out of Glasgow is 5000+ USD while out of BRU is 2800USD), might book in early Sept. When did the deal run out? Sept 15th?

If I ditch the itinerary on the way back at LCY, everything should be fine right? I can get to BRU to leave easy enough but its a pain to do both ways as there is no direct flight from Glasgow. Either would have to burn miles to position or fly direct from Edinburgh.

Yes, you shouldn't have a problem with that. Your luggage will be returned at LCY so you can pick up the BRU flight from LHR, but London transport can be unpredictable, so there's every chance you'll get 'delayed' somewhere along the way

In fact, IME if you have a 5-6 hour connection at LHR, you can still happily short-check your luggage using the story that you're meeting someone and have to give them a gift during your layover...

At outstations where the employees are contracted, they could care less... (Just based on my experience).

I wasn't really looking for a TP run, honest, but it seems rude not to try.

I'm looking at XXX-LON/LCY-JFK-LAS/LAX return in biz for two next spring in J/I/A/A/I/J.

Clearly not all I7 fares are loaded, but from existing data, I have found:
  • ex-BRU and ex-LUX are lowest at the moment @ £1,763-ish to LAS (ex-LUX)
  • ex-LUX beats ex-BRU by £21-ish (lower departure tax)
  • ex-IST is not far behind, about £200 more for 80 extra TPs
  • to LAX is about £700 more than to LAS at the moment
  • ITA, ba.com and aa.com show similar fares
  • aa.com offers ...-JFK-MIA-LAS-... in either or both directions for about £2 extra but requires an 06:00 take off from LAS on the return unless I stop over in MIA or JFK
  • connecting via LAX (no stopover) costs an extra £700 and includes a biz sector JFK-LAX so not A

Hmm. Decisions, decisions.
  • should I book now or wait for something better?
  • is there a better routeing to maximise TPs for a similar price?
  • booking at aa.com would be simpler but I would lose the BAPP 2x multiplier for 3 Avios per £ (but could use the DC MC @ 2 points/miles per £)

And I haven't even checked AB yet.

Book with BA over the phone, and request the AA flight numbers that you want.

Stretching out to HNL...

According to ITA, this fare also extends to HNL....Although the cheaper fares (circa £1800) include an AS flight back to SEA rather than LAX. to get all AA flights, the price does increase somewhat.
I am sure that there is a work around / more combinations to squeeze another 420TP's for not much more...
