OT - 7SS The Return of Thorsten Buehrmann

An early Christmas present to you all. Our favourite friend, Thorsten Buehrmann, is back. This time he's been to South Africa to hand out another of his infamous awards to a hotel.

By amazing coincidence the alleged review of Emirates First Class has no pictures of our special friend, but the hotel review does. It's just so curious, almost as if he didn't actually fly First Class.

Thorsten flies Emirates First Class... allegedly

There's a link from there to his arrival at the Karkloof Spa in Pietermaritzburg who must be delighted at being South Africa's first seven star resort.

Right, I'm off to designate my sofa the world's first 9 star seating arena.

Merry Christmas.

I've just read it again. The lack of any detail, (apart from his wine reviews which sound magically lifted from elsewhere) makes me chuckle.

I hear this name for the first time but its very "entertaining" (I should probably better say special), indeed. In the "About" section I read that "his photo-journalistic review style is easily recognizable." Well yes, with wonderful EK corporate pics

A delightful new discovery for me, too. My favourite part:

"The international cheese buffet selection (CLICK HERE) was of exquisite taste and could not be overlooked. A perfect example of outstanding personal service occurred when my partner raised his finger to point out an annoying ripped fingernail. A member of the staff inquired within seconds how he could be helped, and spontaneously guided him to the spa where a manicurist took care of the problem."

I never thought that pretence was one of the traits of a 'perfect gentleman'...

Why do we even bother bringing up the entirely meaningless opinions of some self promoting marketeer?

It's a bit of an occasional tradition on this board. Rather like Pseud's Corner in Private Eye

Thorsten, kudos. You have surpassed yourself once more.

I thought you meant me for a second! (But seriously, do take a moment to read my blog / TRs ;-) )

I really couldn't help myself! The pseud's corner comparison is bang on.

Hasn't he just.

For those of you new to his site, read one review a day until Christmas. It's like your very own advent calendar.

He's graded the flight as 'Society - World Level Perfection'. Almost like the quality of my trip reports then.

Has he ever pontificated about BA Club World? I only ask because I couldn't be bothered to search his ramblings, but perhaps someone will remember.

Tragic. Pointless. Ideal for Christmas
