BA announces new accumulation rate and tier bonus on JAL flights from Oct 1 2012

There are two stages of the changes. First stage effective on Oct 1 2012 and the second one on Jan 1 2013.

You will earn at least 50% miles on discounted economy class now instead of 25% before. 100% tier bonus for Gold and Silver, 25% for Bronze

hehe some higher booking class will get lower accumulation rates from Jan 1 2013 though That's probably why they do the change in two stages so a little bit of advanced notice is given for the lower rates ^

The majority of people i know travel intra-Asia on Y, B and H tickets. I dont like the sound of this 'enhancement'.

Hmm, not so sure this is all good news. As I read it premium economy will earn the same Avios as economy (except discounted Y). Not much of an incentive then...

For Y
You used to get 100% miles
You will get 125% bronze, 200% silver/gold

For BH
You used to get 100% miles
You will get 95% bronze, 170% silver/gold

For WE
You used to get 110% miles
You will get 125% bronze, 200% silver/gold

The only people losing out are Blue on B/H/W/E tickets.

And everyone who plans to collect tier points on these flights. The majority of my TPs come from Asia regional flights so the 'enhancements' hit me harder than most.

That doesn't sound right, searching on the TP calculator it should be 10 for a discounted economy, 20 for full fare.

The Silver/Gold 100% bonus being given for the discounted fares will finally make it possible to fly JL while not sacrificing too much by way of miles - even the worst case scenario gives 150% of miles flown if Silver/Gold so it's very handy.

They're actually very cheap ex-ICN both to Europe and the US so I look forward to flying them in the future.
