Using double avios as a gold
To get more redemption availabilities. Does that only work on discounted business like D (same as GGL joker) or can you get j availabilty as well?

J availability will work, provided no one else has pulled a joker or a double avios on it already (unlikely I would suspect, unless it's Malé). You need a month's notice too.

5.Double Avios Points may not be used in conjunction with [i] Avios & Money, [ii] Gold Upgrade for Two; or [iii] Avios for Upgrade or [iv] American Express Vouchers.
