How do you value Avios?

I'm looking at bookings using Avios and these are the options I'm seeing:

4500 Avios or $112 cash

This values my Avios at about 2.5cents per Avios. This looks like a fair value to me. What do you think? What range of redemption value do you look for when redeeming Avios?

*this would be my first Avios redemption; I have 40,000 Avios and am unlikely to acquire anymore.

I tend to use mine to UUA from WT+ to CW.

the fare difference would be from £700ish for WT+ to £2000+ for CW.

SO i guess that would equal a rough value of £0.065 (US$0.10) per avios. However I could never actually justify spending £2000 on a flight. so I suppose it doesn't mean that much!

If you have the opportunity to use them in the future to UUA from WT+ to CW and can afford the $112, then I would save them, but thats just my 2pence worth.

In the end we got them for free, so anything they give us back is a bonus!

It's pretty common.
I'd value them around 1.5-2 US cents per point.

Just one word of caution, since you don't mention what redemption you are considering. The avios 'cost' excludes taxes/fees, which may be much, much more, depending on airline/flight etc.

Taxes and fees are $2.5 and this is an American Airlines flight. The actual fare on AA site is over $200, but I'm comparing the Avios spend to the lowest cash price I can find which is $112.

Thank you for sharing the links! It sounds like spending the 4500 Avios would be the better option.

That's the one indeed. Could not find it either so no harm no foul to the OP.

As I said before I don't work out the cost of each Avios.....certainly not to the nearest cent. I look at the amount of Avios needed plus the taxes/charges and take it from there.

The cost of a EZE-LHR return in WT+ is 105,000 Avios + $ 882.70......one look at that tells you you'd have to be off your flippin' rocker to stump up that ridiculous amount.....so I wouldn't.
