AA TP Question

Hi,

Can someone kindly confirm my guess that AA only credit TP and Avios upon completion of complete itinerary ? Whilst BA happily credit individual sectors as they come along ?

As per the table at "http://www.britishairways.com/travel/collect-avios-oneworld/public/en_gb", elegible AA F fares are the F,P and A category.

I recently flew a few sectors with AA in A, P and one on I.

However I have been finding that my tier points and avios have not been applying to my account. I checked the status of a claim I made via the BA website for a flight more than 7 days ago that I flew on an A F ticket and found it was rejected ? I have not received any more detail about the rejection.

My guess therefore is that I have to complete the final sector before AA will credit the TP and Avios.

Is this correct ? Or should I be ringing up AA and giving them a hard time ?

Thanks y'all.

We did a TP run over 10 days in June and the AA sectors typically posted 3-4 days after each sector had been flown.

That's also my experience.

Q: Do your AA BPs have your BAEC number on them?

You get the TP/Avios between 2 and 4 days after the flight. It will be 4 days if you have a late flight close to the daily posting update, so 3 days is the norm. It is based on each sector flown (i.e. after your boarding pass has been scanned at a a gate before boarding), not according to a whole PNR / locator / journey.

When there is a refusal showing in MMB, there normally is an email sent to the default email address of your BAEC, giving fractionally more information, but it is often says something superbly vague like "insufficient information to process claim". You cannot then re-enter the webform, since it says "you tried this already". At which point you either call or send in a general purpose webform complaint.

My experience, as an AA cardholder, is that what can happen is that an AA number can get automatically picked up, and even if the points don't actually end up with AA, this is sufficient to block the transfer to BA.

My tactic, therefore, is to never ever enter an AA number in the booking, so fill it in without logging in, and enter only the BA number in your unlogged in state. You can then only see the booking by using your first + last names, plus locator.

Yes, and I double checked with the lounge agent when I was waiting to fly my last sector earlier today, the BAEC number was on there and she could see it applied to all previous flights on that AA itinerary.

Plus, as mentioned, I submitted a claim, went to the status page today and saw it listed as rejected, never got an email with more detail.

Oh well, sounds like some callcentre phone time when I eventually get back home !

What's the claim deadline again ? Is it safe for me to wait another 7 days after today (i.e. after completion of the itinerary) or should I keep on pestering the powers that be as the sectors release into the 7 day period ?

Not that this was a TP run, it was a multi-stop holiday, but I would very much like the TPs as they amount to quite a few.

Oh and thanks to all for replying so swiftly !

I don't think you need to panic. I can't remember what the deadline is (6 months?), but let's put it this way, the webform allows you to input a date in 2011.

If you had a rejection, nothing will change unless you make a nuisance of yourself.

If a partner airline hasn't posted, you are encouraged to claim from 7 days onwards.

Thanks corporate-wage-slave.

I was feeling a bit jetlagged today, so spent some time in the hotel room.... once bordom set in and I couldn't sleep, I called the BAEC line and filed a request over the phone.

By the way, what's with you not being able to use the 0191 number when calling from a mobile abroad ? I had to use the 08 number... dread to think what my bill will look like. ;-)

Oh well, thanks again... and we shall see what BAEC's back orifice spurts out when they've done their reviews.

Not sure if there is a connection (I hope not for the benefit of all TP runners) but I've just had some AA flights in A post with Y TP. Spoke to BA and have filed a request for the full TP to post - the girl on the phone seemed surprised that it would be full first TPs on a two class plane.

As to timing, each flight posted after 2 days, although on occasion it has taken up to 12 days.
