progress on the 767/777 refurbishments?

Good evening,

It was mentioned here a few months back about the GE powered 777-200ER aircraft getting refurbished including Thales IFE with G-RAES being the first Aswell as the 767 which is operating to EWR.

I would just like to ask the progress of these refurbishments? How many are left to go? What routes are they on as I would like to avoid the ratty 767's and get a nice fresh one.

G-RAES, G-VIIA, G-VIIG, G-VIIK, G-VIIL have the 77W style interiors. There are 12 more 772s to be refitted.

G-BNWW (longhaul) and G-BNWX (shorthaul) are the refurbished 763s. There are 12 more 763s to be refitted (7 are not currently planned for refit). I believe one of these 12 (G-BNWY longhaul) is currently in for refit.

There are 11 744s (all Mid-J) without New First and are not currently planned for refit.

Aircraft are not route-specific generally, but you can check below:

Thanks for your very indepth post!

I expect BA will be doing a lot of refurbs over the quieter winter period?

I assumed all the 747's had been fully refitted. Is it possible that the A380 will be in a mid-J configuration as I assume they didn't fit new F because of the A380 delivery? or have they just not got round to doing them yet?

And I'd bet that with the purchase of bmi that those 7 767s not scheduled to be refurbished will in fact now get it

The BMI purchase brings a new aspect I forgot all about.

Considering the 2 A330's are leaving and BA want to expand long-haul refurbing all the 747/767 would be sensible. Unless BA plans to use the BMI slots by ordering 77W's and/or more 787's. I think it's more BA's stlye to refurb the old ones.

Probably a very very question but no matter how much I've googled and searched I'm still struggling to get my head round it.

If a 772 has been refitted for New First - does that also include Thales (rather than the 12 channel loop) in Club World ?

Only if it was one of the aircraft with the ancient GMIS IFE system fitted. If the aircraft originally had Rockwell Collins AVOD, it will still have the same system after NF has been fitted.

Essentially if the aircraft has new First, it will have AVOD. If it is a 3-class aircraft, it will have AVOD.

The only aircraft that do not have AVOD are the remaining old First 772s.
