Status question - I Read sticky, but couldn't work out how it would affect me, Sorry!

I wonder if someone who is a bit of a whiz would mind letting me know exactly what will happen to my status ove the next 8 months please. I couldn't work out how the sticky info would apply to me, sorry

My membership year ends on 8th Dec 2012

I am currently on Tier Points of 20

I have a flight in October which is going to earn me 320 TP's (according to my MMB page for it).

I then have a flight in April 2013 which is going to earn me 220 TP's

Can anyone tell me what status I will have achieved, and how long this status will last for and what needs to be done to get to Silver (if reasonably possible).

Thanks, and sorry if this is a very basic question

Cheers,
Kevin

Bronze. 300TPs before your years elapses, then you start counting again on 9/12/12 from 0.

Your tier points will reset to zero in August. After your flight for 320TP you will be Bronze. Then 220TP will get you to 540. You will need an additional 60TP to earn Silver, which you must earn by 8/12/13. So from the time this year expires to the time the next year expires, if you book one more trip that gets 60TP you will be Silver the following year.

I think pianomit's post is assuming 8/12/12 is 8th December 2012 and not 12th August 2012 - if it's the latter then you will be close to silver after your April 2013 flights (i.e. you will have 540 TPs).

Might pay to use unambiguous dates on a BA forum!

Sorry for the confusion. I edited my initial post to reflect that my year is finished on 8th Dec 2012 ( I had put the date in standard UK format)...How does this affect my status?

My fault. Was looking at it through my American glasses.

In that case you will be Bronze for your following membership year unless you earn an extra 280TP by Dec 8 in which case you will be Silver for the following membership year.
Otherwise you have to earn 380TP over the following year (in addition to the 220TP you have booked) to be promoted.

Membership year ends are always the 8th of the month, so in this context it had to be 8 December 2012.

But I agree that unambiguous dates are always useful.

It would be even more useful, though, if the Americans would fall into line with everyone else.

You will be Bronze on your renewal after your flight in October until December 2013.
An additional 80TPs during 2013 will leave you as Bronze until December 2014.
An additional 380TPs during 2013 will get you promoted to Silver until December 2014.

So my TPs reset to zero on Dec 9th 2012, but am I right in saying that I still remain on Bronze status through to Dec 8th 2013, and then need to obtain 600 TP's by Dec 8th 2013 to get Silver?

I (as mentioned) have 220 lined up for April, so I probably need two Trans Atlantic flights to get Silver...I might have a quick week-end trip to the US in January, but depends on leave from work etc...

Thanks for clearing everything up ^

Ah, that is perfectly explained for me thanks, and I now know exactly what I need to do to get, and keep bronze and/or Silver.

Much appreciated ^

KenJohn is almost right: the Status will be Valid until 31 January 2014 (and 2015 respectively) but you will always only have until 8 December to regain the Points (Points earned after December 8 will count for the new Membership year)
another Option is to get an additional 240 TP before December 2012 to get Silver until 31 January 2014 but the other Option (getting 380 TP early in 2013) will give you status for longer, i.e. 31 January 2015
