BOS-LHR-DXB with a London visit

Currently booked in F on the 238 leaving BOS at 8:15, arriving LHR at 19:35 and then onto 109 to DXB at 21:40. We live about 2 hours from Boston. I've left it to the last minute and the hotel I want at the airport is now $400/night. I'm thinking of grabbing the 22:20 flight the night before instead of hotel which would give us a day to kill in london before the 2140 dxb flight.

Am I missing anything? On the same PNR can I have a 12+ hour layover? Can I leave the airport and head to the city? What about bags? I assume checked bags can go through but what about carryon that I don't really want to carry to the city?

Thanks!

Suppose the first question should be do you have permission to enter the UK ?

If yes everything else you suggest should be fine.

If you wanted you could check in your carry on when you got as far as LHR or else I'm fairly certain that LHR has left luggage companies that will hold it for a charge.

What time does the earlier BOS flight get into LHR ? If am I'd head to the arrivals lounge to shower and freshen up before heading into the city.

Thanks... Of course I slept on it and now 1 of the 2 award seats I needed was picked up by someone else. If someone else is reading this, feel free to pick another flight. In any event, I will continue to monitor. As far as carry-on baggage holding, I seem to recall reading that the CCR will hold bags? Am I remembering incorrectly or are there limits to what they can do?

Not sure about the CCR luggage storage, but in any case I'm pretty sure they won't be keen on you leaving bags if leaving the airport. In any case the logistics of gaining entry to the CCR and then arranging an escort back out of the secure area will be too complex and time consuming (you can't just walk back out again).

Your best bet would be to use the left luggage service in the check-in area at T5.

Ah, persistence pays off. Been checking the availability on BA every 20 minutes and the 2nd seat opened up. Locked it in. Thanks all for the advice re: luggage, etc.
