OTish - New International Terminal at LAS (Now with Photos)

I have just had a look around the new Term 3 at LAS which will be the new BA international terminal here. They had an open day today which allowed us to explore

I will post pictures after my mini TP run to LAX this evening but here are a few observations:

1 - Vast improvement - a really modern and well thought out terminal.
2 - Duty free is now what you would expect from an international terminal and is a lot bigger.
3 - There are a nice selection of restaurants and I think all tastes will find something to eat or drink. There is a Dewars Bar - it was closed so did not notice if it was associated with the whisky but it did look like it was.
4 - Very modern gates.
5 - The lounge the BA flight will use is an improvement - although disappointingly not bigger than the current lounge. Also it is very colourful and the seats look like they belong in a school but they are comfy! They do have showers now and the food and snack bit looked like an improvement. It reminded me a little of a sauna as the walls are clad in pine but overall it is bright. No windows though
6 - It is a very long terminal so there is a bit of walking to do from check in to the gates - there are some moving walkways but I still think some will find the trek a hike!

Overall first impression was really good and a huge improvement. I will update this post with photos tomorrow or maybe later tonight. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask and I will try and answer from my very brief visit.

If the FT team want to use any photos for the lounge database they are more than welcome. I am not sure if they are good enough though. I am sorry I didn't get more but I just had a brief look round before my flight. I hope you enjoy these.

Regards

Any opinion on how complicated/time consuming it will be to change
from intl. to domestic or vice versa?
T3 will obviously have a domestic section according to the map on pg 23 here http://www.mccarran.com/T3-Information/ but AA will not be one of
the airlines there.

I am very surprised given the increase in international flights ex-LAS, that they haven't built a larger lounge. We couldn't get a seat in the T2 lounge before our last flight.

Oh well.

Looking forward to the photos.

Is the lounge going to be a shared lounge as per the old one? If it is shared, then size is a problem; if not, there it's an improvement.

I understand it's to be shared.

Interior design sounds shocking! Windows are so important in a lounge to help waking/sleeping cycles and bright colours are the last thing you need when relaxing prior to a night flight home.

Let's hope with an additional service to LGW that BA will deem a twice daily is enough to justify its own space.

Pics would be appreciated!

Thanks for this. I'm flying into LAS on day 2 of operation, so interesting stuff.

There's a 44 page media pack on mccarran.com, which had some details, and confirms that the Dewers bar is in association with the scotch.

disappointing to learn that the lounge is small. It would be really nice if BA had their own lounge there.

Actually that was one of my concerns. They did not have any transport around yesterday as it was an open day but the terminal is further from Term 1 that the old international Terminal. I think, unless they have a bus running it is going to have to be a taxi as it would be a lot further to walk.

I dint really scope that out too well so I am happy to be corrected if someone knows better.

Yes it is shared, there was signs up for Priority Club and Lounge Club - and I think Virgin etc will all still use it.

Still too small IMHO.
