Saw this formation probably over or near The Rockies heading towards LAX. Seems to be something forming above existing clouds.

Not BA related, but a colleague posted this image following a storm.

Wow, that is a great photo of some 'Mammatus' (wiki article on Mammatus here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammatus_cloud )

Although we don't quite know how they form, they are generally linked to some severe convective activity in the cloud above them (usually a thunderstorm) and can be associated with tornado activity but not always. Certainly means a bumpy ride when going through the cloud or area around the cell.

Thanks for posting passy777 ^^

Anyone else have some weather related pictures from recent BA travels?

Sort of BA, as I used our flag carrier to fly the TATL legs, but this was actually from an Air Canada flight into LGA from YUL. Just over the northern end of Long Island. Sun setting and it was very impressive. No filter used.

Not from a BA flight, but QR; so on the grounds of it being the sister ship and OneWorld, I hope you'll grant me some leeway.

It's not possible to get decent afternoon views of Africa on BA metal, so it was enjoyable to see so much cloud activity last week flying from CPT to DOH.

I thought these looked interesting, taken on Friday evening, shortly after departing from LHR heading east.

I thought this was an interesting sky with lots of different layers of clouds. Taken yesterday after departing LBA heading for LHR.

Any explanation for this cloud formation BotB?

Despite its threatening look nothing happened and it eventually moved off.

Amazing pictures posted lately everyone ^ love them!

I'll come back and respond to questions and comment on some processes in the next day or two but have to finish some work right now first or I'll be looking at a lot of clouds!

Safe travels everyone. ^
