How much do you use Avios+Cash awards?

I just booked some AA short haul domestic awards using Avios. How much do you guys value Avios to use Avios+Cash options and can you list some of your redemption with Avios+Cash?

I did 2250 Avios+$35 option for the short YYZ-LGA one way flight. Compared to cash price, it yields 4-5 US cents/points which I think is phenomenal.

I bought 3 x CE (business class) flights from LHR-LCA earlier this year

Avios points debited 60000
Payment Total GBP 582.00

Cost of the flights was around Ł585 each at the time

So, Ł1755 - Ł582 = Ł1173 which meant the Avios were worth just under 2p each.

Not the best use of Avios in hindsight, but better than spending an extra Ł1173 for me at the time.

You can't take them with you when you die

Next year I'm going to use 80,000 Avios + a 241 voucher and Ł102 for the same flights.

I haven't used it but some do seem to be very good value especially in Europe. Although it has to be said I don't work out the cost of redemptions per mile as some people do......I can't be bothered.

Hi...What do you think of the below? Is it worth it?

60000 Avios + $ 1,617.33 for First class between JFK and LHR RT

Dates are May 30 outbound and June 9 Inbound

Any other suggestions would help. I want to try their new First class.

Thanks

If one of the flights is a night flight, you may want to book F in 1 direction only and CW for the night flight, to save some Avios.

You need to do this by phone I think if that is what you decide.

If the cash and points is equivalent to buying the extra Avios for 0.8p, I do it.

If it is 1p, I may do it but probably not.

Above 1p, I never do it.

Depends how miles rich you are, though.

Will be booking this coming week some flights for me and Mrs Lem for a trip next year (going in Sept, but buying the flights for March and will change them as availability opens up at 355 days out):

LHR-ORD - F - 108,000 Avios + €1,006
ORD-LGA - Y - 15,000 Avios + €3.76
JFK-LCY - CWLCY - 80,000 Avios + €630

To me, that's incredibly good value and I already cannot wait
