Companies have been known to run before the internet. Some companies, I know this is strange, have been known to run before computers.
Anyway, most people will be watching the olympics from their home, not looking for porn.
If all the porn is turned off, would the interent run faster.

The OP has made some valid points with logic. Chicken Little comment is out of place specially without supporting arguments..
That is the correct way...Wait, do not prejudge ! However should BA as the National Flagship Carries suffer any untoward incidents, due to association with Olympics or because of the increased traffic and opportunities to play mischief...the BA brand will suffer.
Who will decide the outcome was better or worse for BA and/or UK ?
Surprising how many Britons are thinking to stay away from Britain!
As for the "Businesses stay home, let the workers work from home ", stay away from the tube....Can a small business, working persons afford to do that ? Besides isn't one of the major reasons cities go for the Olympics is that it pumps a few billion in the economy ?
To the OP … a fine Prophet of Doom post, and I find myself inclined to agree with the overall thrust [I won't go into detail].
Sadly, Britain is now "Second World" in so many areas … the failure points will inevitably show up during the Olympic farrago. Oh, why did UK have to pitch for this humungous bill? Does it really matter?
Is this one of the rare insights for the big picture ?
Mercifully I shall be well separated from events, apart from having a couple of weeks TV scheduling re-strutured to ensure that I can see someone run faster than some other people. Etc etc.
I doubt the target shooting events will even get coverage. However, I may use iPlayer for the Beach Volleyball.

I may well be proved wrong but I find it difficult to believe all the scaremongering. Non-Olympics-related travel to Britain should fall and inbound passenger numbers are constrained by airline capacity anyway.
The Olympics should be something of which Britain is proud and I think most people are.
The media just likes to make a fuss.

Oh, fair dos … T5 is modern, and iconic, and designed by a knight. Or a Lord. Or an idiot.
It's cramped, dysfunctional cr@p unless you can find your way to BA Lounge through the shops. And inbound it's congested cr@p. In fact, it's all broadly speaking cr@p.
The Olympics will be better, because they're International cr@p. The multi-cultural opening ceremony, which will be vomit-worthy and involve loads of children preforming ineptly, will soon be forgotten. Then foreign people will win many more medals than the Host Nation … although we may have a small stranglehold on minority sports that nobody else really bothers about.
I feel sorry for Her Majesty, who will undoubtedly be given a script to read saying how absolutely wonderful it all is.
Perhaps she could publicly hang Blair as part of the Opening Ceremony to cheer us up?

I'm a totally negative, unhappy driveller with a sense of humour that sometimes fails to cross National [or other] boundaries.
I should be shot.

As everything has worked pretty well so far (including one of the most successful build programmes which proves that Britain can deliver world class infrastructure), the pessimists have now moved on to general predications of Doom for the event itself.
The reality - transport will be a bit of a mess and there will one spectacular signal failure on the Jubilee Line. The games themselves will pass off without a hitch. London will be one great big party. East London will get a big regeneration shot in the arm. Moaning people will continue to moan and pick fault.
Was it as mistake for BA to associate themselves? There was a far big downside in not sponsoring and brand contamination from any issues will be very thin.
Having been at the BA pop up this week I got my first dose of Olympic atmosphere and am now thoroughly looking forward to this summer. It should be a blast.

Well I disagree that the Olympics will put people off coming to the UK. I agree that 'tourists' that would visit in other years may be put off, but these will be offset by other types of visitors who will plan trips because of the games. It's swings and roundabouts.
Indeed we have 3 sets of friends bringing their families to watch their games whilst staying with us at some point of their trip in the North East. They chose to visit this year because of the games, even though they don't have tickets.

Interesting article in today's Guardian about how more people think Nike is the main Olympic sponsor, not Adiddas, who has paid the big bucks for it. I think most people wouldn't know BA was the main sponsor, but would simply guess at it.
I've lived through a Commonwealth Games and World Expo in a much smaller city and survived, despite the hype and worry back then. London is a different beast, but it will cope. People will love to tell their travel stories and post them on moanbook and twatter.
Living in East London since before the announcement, all I can say is the change and shift of London's centre from West to East has been amazing. While the sporting venues may take some time to be utilised after, the catalyst on the rest of the area has been outstanding.
I have tickets to the Weightlifting and Wrestling, my neighbour has tickets to the Athletics and Closing Ceremony (4 x Ł1200 each!!) and I've got Athletics and Swimming tickets for the Paralympics after so I'm looking forward to it.
I have been to the Gymnastics, Cycling and Diving test events and I'd consider the touts for the Cycling. The venue is top notch, and the atmosphere was one the best for a sporting event. The Gymnastics was great, seeing the guys at work close up without the camera deciding what to see. The Diving was good, but it was a short finals session, over in 90 mins or so. Not sure I'd try for those again.
Yes, there is going to be some pain on the tube. But Summer time in London has a lot of people on holiday anyway. Companies need to be flexible for staff that live near the area or travel through it or Central London.
For me, BA's involvement isn't of great importance- living in London. I think the sponsorship deals are a bit of swizz anyway. The only reason I've taken notice is so I can enter competitions to win tickets!!!! Now, if we could turn Avios into Games Tickets, that would be something amazing!!

I think there was even a competition entry every time you used your debit card.
Unlikely anyone from this board will be winning one of those

Lloyds weren't my flavour of the month a couple of months ago, but by the time this 10x points deal is over I'll be sitting on enough Avios for 3 years worth of travel, or 10 years worth of MFU's so they are actually my favourite company at the moment
As I said a few months ago, Don't get , Get even !
