Putting the Club back into Club World

I understand that as part of the Great Britons campaign, BA are going to be introducing a proper dress code on all longhaul flights.

BRITISH AIRWAYS PASSENGER DRESS CODE

World Traveller

Torn, dirty, tatty or distressed jeans
Vests or sleeveless shirts (may be covered by a jersey or tracksuit top)
Flip-flops or open sandals
Hot pants or micro-skirts
Beach or garish shorts
Cropped tops
T-Shirts
Trainers

World Traveller Plus

Long or short sleeve shirt with collar
Slacks or chinos (not shorts)
Long trousers (may include smart jeans)
Ladies long or short sleeve blouse or shirt
Sweater/pullover if required
Ladies trousers or skirt or tailored shorts (may include smart jeans)

Passengers in World Traveller Plus may pass through the Club Kitchen so attired but should not linger.

Club World

Sports Jacket or Blazer with tailored trousers (not jeans)
Shirt and tie
Business Suit
One piece dress
“Separates” – i.e. Jacket and/or blouse/polo neck and/or “Twin-set”
Ladies skirt or trousers (not jeans)

Ladies beach dresses, spaghetti straps or strapless dresses are not permitted.

"Planters"
As above with jacket removed. Planters rig is only permitted when the air conditioning has been set exceptionally high and when indicated by an announcement by the CSD.

From 17.00 on Fridays (and Maundy Thursday) until 09.30 on Mondays (or Tuesdays following Bank Holiday Mondays), Casual Dress as per World Traveller Plus is permitted throughout Club World.

First Class

Full ceremonial robes and gowns
Dresses from designer collections (Milan, Paris, New York only)
Medals and other decorations to be worn when appropriate.
National dresses are always welcome (but not kilts)
Crowns and tiaras should be worn for embarkation and disembarkation but may otherwise be stowed in the overhead lockers.

If I can't wear my kilt, in true Scottish fashion, in F, I guess I'll just have to fly a different airline.....

I believe kilts are perfectly acceptable, as long as nothing is worn underneath of course. If you're older trews are fine too. However once the referendum has been passed, well, it is British Airways.

First Class Queries:
1) Does BA support/condone fur? I, for one, would be horrified if the rantings of the rear-lavatory peasantry of 55 D-G prevented us from bringing our finest ermine and sable, especially where ceremonial robes are concerned.

2) If our crowns/coronets/tiaras are being fitted with more exquisite jewels that day, is BA in a position to furnish us with a loan-piece?

3) Will there be milk-and-champagne fed veal? I mean, really, is this going to be a VS experience?

Commentary

Bravo on the kilts. If the Scotchmen wish to leave the UK and devolve into East Ireland, they thereby abjure of their right to wear their national dress (har har) on British Airways.

So if the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was to be denuded of Scotland so that the Great Britain part no longer applied, would it be renamed the United Kingdom of England, Wales and Northern Ireland?

Any by extension would the airline be known as English, Welsh and Northern Irish Airways or even the Airways formerly known as British?

I believe you have accidentally inverted the list.

During periods of hot weather outside of the summer months, the Master (aka Mr. K Williams) may declare "shirt-sleeve order." For passengers travelling in the premium cabins jacket and tie may be discarded and shirt sleeves rolled up smartly to just above the elbow.

At all times Hawaiian shirts should be of a single, quiet colour.

I see shell suits (Burgundy coloured or otherwise) are not allowed. This is going to be a problem for at least one of our regulars.

Is one now expected to dress (Black Tie/tuxedo) for dinner in F?

Hopefully, white tie after 18:00. Anyone using the word "tux" should be be swiftly thrown with a minimum of ceremony into Y.

If you insist on wearing a skirt, the list offers plenty of acceptable options.

Fur is allowed in F, provided of course that you shot it yourself. Faux far goes down the back.

"Medals and other decorations to be worn when appropriate"

I need more information - would my Jim'll Fix It Medal count - what is appropriate? I can meet all the other criteria.
