Can Silvers request bassinets at T-72 hrs?

I always thought that you could request bassinets when they open up at T-72 hrs but apparently not?

Can anyone shed light on this? My wife / kids are flying WT+ and front row is open - I can't allocate on MMB but the seats are now open. I'm sure in the past I've been able to get them to do this on the phone - but maybe because I'm Gold?

Thanks

You need to call up to allocate. Available to bronze holders too.

Do you find that when you choose a passenger in the seat map to move them around the bassinet seat turns from 'unoccupied' to 'occupied'?

If so, this is a well known feature of BA.com and can be solved by the simple expedient of a phone call to BA.

There's a few uninformed agents out there unfortunately. Just keep trying and you'll get there in the end!

Third time lucky! Thanks for encouraging me to keep trying. It is SO annoying when you get uninformed people on the phone who haven't got a clue!

I did this in late Jan and the agent informed me I could not do it, I stated that you could and she said she'd give it a go, quelle suprise, bassinet seat booked!

You always used to be able to request bassinets when you made your reservation - not a specific bassinet seat, but a bassinet seat all the same, irrespective of status and from 330 days or whenever you made your booking. Fortunately those days are behind us now - touch wood

Few words share the power of 'bassinet' to strike fear into my heart.

We got bumped out of the bassinet seats on a CW flight to Antigua a few years ago to accomodate a child that screamed all the way there as she didn't want to be in it !

Glad the OP managed to get it sorted.

I don't know; back in Dec 2002 my wife and I had booked Continental tickets on Virgin metal from LGW to MIA for ourselves and our (then) 2yr old and 7-mth old specifying bassinet seats. On check-in the bassinet seats had already been allocated, so the VS check-in staff said he would upgrade us from Y to VS PE to give us a bassinet; but as we had CO tickets and CO didn't offer PE he upgraded us to VS Upper Class instead . I was quite a fan of bassinets on that occasion! (It was the old UC btw - a bit like sleeping on the floor.)
