Ba7310/QF10 delay 0200 take off
 

My sister is tonight's flight to SIN. The aircraft is delayed from 2130 to 0200. I was surprised that an A380 taking off at this time would contravene the allowable noise levels but this does not seem to be the case. Are there special reasons for an 0200 takeoff or this a normal event?

No, it's not normal - the last commercial flights depart around 23:00. There is likely a technical or crew issue. Airlines have to apply for special dispensation to fly outside of normal hours (between around 23:00 and 05:00) - there is a limit to the number of flights in these hours.

An A380 is actually quieter than a 747 taking off.

The flight was due in at about 0600 this morning but is due in after 0920. I knew there was exceptions for flight arrivals, many years ago I arrived in the very early hours, but I had thought that takeoffs were no go - your feedback helps me to reassure that the flight will depart tonight.

Yes an Android phone. I should turn the predictive text off as it makes writing anything difficult.
