Is this a good point for pound?

Hello everyone,
Just got the email from the BA Exec Amex card about the buy 24,000 miles get 9,000 bonus.
24,000 work out at 399 so getting 33,000 for 399.
That works out (if my calculations are right) 0.0121 per mile.
Is that decent?
Regards.

I'd only buy them at that price if there was a particular flight i was going to book/upgrade in the short-to-medium future and I was sure I was going to save more than the 0.0121 ppm.

I'd not buy them at that price just to build up my Avios balance. There are potentially cheaper ways to buy miles (paging Raffles )

Thought I would add my query here, since buying miles for FC to India is in my future. Can one convert AA miles to BA miles? Thanks

Sorry, no direct route. There may be some convoluted way via a hotel scheme, but you'll be lucky to get 1 Avios for every 5 miles.

EDIT TO ADD: According to this calculator, you might get them at a 1:2 ratio of you can convert via Diners Club Rewards.

There are limits and some fees involved too though.

You can still use them to redeem on BA

1.2p is not a good in my view, unless you have a specific award you are targetting. I look for 0.75p or less before I start wading in.

Remember, if you do a 'cash and points' redemption you are often offered the chance to (de facto) 'buy' half the miles you need for 0.8p or 1p.
