My last CW flight came with a packet of nuts so this bowl of snacks was a nice step up. Plus they made a good Kir Royale

Salmon starter was good but I was disappointed the options were appetizer OR salad and not both

The options of cod, venison stew or Gnudi were a mix of bizarre and disappointing. The venison stew was okay but I don't really like the meat on the ground let alone in the air.

Cheese plate was very good. My seatmate asked if she could have cheese and dessert and was rudely told no

Pre-landing meal was good though small. My seatmate asked if she could swap the scone for a roll and was again rudely told no. Overall pretty good but eh, hardly world shaking.

Complicated Pinot Noir 2016 is a $20 bottle of wine, hardly an F offering.

So why choose it?

Actually the first time I've been handed a menu, as I've just done the LHR-AMS hop in CE before.

The low lactose special meal for my co-flyer - that salmon looks (and apparently was!) proper nice.

And lo and behold, the best ever airline meal I've ever had. I went for the homemade tagliarini in panna sauce, and MAN it was good! The bap with the sprinkle of oregano or whatever that is, is also a success!

Overall, impressed enough to post photos!

That is annoying. I thought with the new catering, both dessert and cheese were available? If it's still one or the other, it shows they are still far behind the competition.

Had a really solid meal LHR-GRU on Jan 2. Here are the pics from F (sorry, I didn't photograph the menu). The soup, salad, and mushroom toast thingie were the highlights. Service was outstanding (not joking). Meals were plated with care; FA bent down to seat level to ask questions, apologized for interrupting etc; offered tastings of the wines. Really, really superb (best BA F flight for me). Such a good 12 hour flight with full sleep and still able to enjoy meals either side.

How does an airline get away with labeling something "homemade"? It can't possibly be accurate.

Because it was the best of the three options. I don't much like cod and I didn't like the sides with it and I didn't trust the Gnudi which was something I'd never heard of and badly explained by the FA as "it's like gnocchi I guess".

The steak was really good....pink in the middle and surprisingly tender.
