New Newark Lounge??

I just saw a blurb in High Life that there will be a new Newark Airport Lounge soon. Any info? Any wishes?

Last year the lounge staff spoke of a new place, somewhere else in the terminal with ample space for all. Perhaps a FIRST lounge bigger than a cupboard is in the works?

I did read somewhere that BA are planning new Galleries First and Galleries Club lounges at EWR.

I also saw this in Highlife - looked nice and was promising amazing views of Manhattan!

Anyone know what day in April it opens?

As part of our 18-month plan to improve our lounges across the world, we will be opening a brand new lounge at Newark in April 2012. This new lounge will reflect the style and luxury of our flagship Galleries Lounges at London Heathrow Terminal 5. Customers will soon be able to enjoy a more relaxing, more comfortable and altogether more contemporary experience when they visit the British Airways lounge at New York Newark airport.

The New Lounge Offers:

An elegant space with 166 seats
Dining area with a dedicated area for First customers
Comfortable seating with views of the runway and extending to Manhattan on clear days
Power outlets throughout the lounge
Complimentary Wifi
Deli and Coffee Bar
Two Silver Bars offering fine wines and premium spirits
Work & Entertainment Zone
Washrooms and shower

The lounge and boarding gate is in a different satellite to the one we are currently using.

Thanks goodness - often have to work in NJ and even though EWR is miles more convenient, have been braving self drive to JFK partly to avoid the grisly departure experience. Hopefully before April 24th when I am next due there.

I don't think the lounge and gate will be in different sattelites from each other, just that they will (both) be in a different sattelie to the one used at present.
[I assume that was what you were concerned about?]

Seems a bit of a shame to only have 3 BA flights using this facility, do the 2 openskies flights use the BA lounge ?

Would seem an ideal time to add an extra flight to LHR or perhaps a service ex LGW ?

No pics of the F lounge but BT is doing a report some stage this month so hopefully we'll see plenty more snaps.

I think it looks good, nice big windows.

You seriously cross NYC to avoid EWR?!

Whilst the EWR lounge is not paradise, the JFK ones are never worth the trek, its perfectly functional, the pre flight dining is not bad and the service is good and you're on the aircraft 2 minutes after leaving your seat.

The only bad thing about EWR (on the departures side anyway) is trying to find the bloody BA check in, I can never find it!

I seriously do - the BA check is hard to find although I have that mastered now. The first lounge is tiny, I am usually in WTP so pre-flight dining is denied to me and also I don't like those nasty 777's with no AVOD that seemed to populate the EWR route.
