An Open Letter to you - denizens of the BA Board
 

The last few months have seen the BA Board become an increasingly hostile, aggressive and unpleasant place to be. This has not passed unnoticed by the Moderator team and indeed many regular and occasional visitors . We had hoped this phase would pass as the Avios changes bedded in, but sadly the last few weeks have seen no change.

So, we have now reached the point where action is needed.

• Think before you post. Are you adding value, or helping a member out? Or is your post snarky, confrontational, aggressive or simply meaningless? If it is any of the later, perhaps think again.

• Any OT threads that do not have a strong travel or aviation theme will be moved immediately to either A10 or Omni

• Any non-BA travel/aviation threads will be given their customary run before moving on to the relevant home. We’d encourage you to explore further in FT too – there are many other forums with a wealth of information

• If you see a post you don’t like, please hit the alert button. Don’t respond as it invariable makes things 10 times worse. Let the Mod Team straighten things out

When we see members making the overall atmosphere worse we will be contacting them directly. If that does not result in an immediate improvement then disciplinary action will follow. We would especially draw your attention to the FT Rules on disruptive posting.

Posters who repeatedly post items that create disruption within forums will be subject to disciplinary action

We – like most members – have enjoyed taking a light touch to moderation and it pleases none of us to be taking a more active role. But we know you want things back to normal as soon as possible and ask for your help in achieving this.

On behalf of the moderator team, I'd like to thank everyone for your co-operation and contribution towards making our corner of the universe more convivial. In recent months the forum has returned to being a pleasant place to visit and I hope you are enjoying the experience more than ever before.

You may have noticed we have been able to relax our approach on off topic threads in recent weeks. We know you enjoy the quirkiness this brings to our community and we're very happy to see this continue so long as the off topic stuff doesn't intrude too much into the core themes of the forum.

To end this note, it is time to unpin this letter.
