Weird Seat Selection Screen

I've got about 4 ET bookings at the moment, the closest of which is 3 weeks away.

On all of these bookings, the first 8 rows of ET are greyed out and I cannot select a seat towards the front of the cabin, despite being a GCC.

This situation changes nearer departure date, when they open up.

Any idea why this is?

I have no idea - it is unlikely that CE will move that far back (isnt it?)

The front ET rows are blocked in case CE needs to be expanded. When BA have a better idea of CE numbers, those rows will be released for selection.

The front section of the cabin is usually not released for seat allocation until around 72 hours before the departure time.

It entirely depends on the route. I've seen bigger movements than 8 rows in the past. It's quite conceivable that the cabin configuration could change to this extent over the 3 weeks prior to the flight.

I've noticed this more and more in recent months.

I'd thought it was just another perk for Silvers, but (sorry), I'm glad to see you Golds are experiencing it too!
