Meanwhile, Virgin will be introducing brand new A350-1000's on the Caribbean routes, most likely at 9 abreast. And the refurbished 747's and competing Thomson Dreamliners there aren't exactly that shabby either.

Am I right in thinking that a row 26 window and exit seat on a 124Y (ends with 39AB JK) has both no window and no legroom?! Ie is 26A in fact a dog of a seat and I should seriously consider swapping to 27A? It is a night flight so the window element is actually that important. So maybe 26C, or 26B to try and game Theoretical Seating?

I, too, see 10 abreast in economy as inevitable; in the last day CX has announced its plan to do the same. At the same time, how about installing the new A350 CW seat with direct aisle access from all seats. I know that Alex Cruz has gone on record saying that the new seat will not be retrofitted onto other aircraft in the fleet, but if you are reconfiguring these 777's for a life expectancy of 30 years, surely it would make sense? Maybe February 2018 is too early, but if not the LGW birds, how about the LHR birds later on?

That sounds very much like what they did to the refurbed 747's, so no new seats just refurbished... Which may mean keeping 9 a breast Y

I doubt they'll bring back 10 abreast on the 777 - it was a disaster on one of their franchise partners a good few years ago and they abandoned it for 9 abreast.

Anyway I suspect the answer is obvious but for 2 travelling together in F on a 17F 772 I presume the middle seats in row 2 are as good as any? Whole cabin is open on the seatmap currently. It's overnight so would like to avoid galley light.

That was when they were the only ones doing it. The world has moved on and 10 abreast is the new norm so I very much expect 10 abreast in Y and 8 fewer J seats on the LGW birds. With the J seats replaced with an extra 4/5 rows of W which we know sells well.
